There's a real danger that the left/centre get themselves totally out of line with public opinion on cigarettes (they are already so widely used).

... I know that this is entirely anecdotal and I'd need to look up actual stats but I see working class kids hanging about all the time.

I don't think I've ever seen the same from private school kids. And I live in a pretty mixed area.

I think their impact is overstated compared to the risk of algorithms that draw people into extremist content, which if anything has had a more aggressive and negative impact on middle aged people than teens

The form of online interaction matters there too. There's relatively positive and negative formats and environments.

Driving them offline will never work, but we can do better to ensure the spaces they will be in are safer and more community based
