Perry, Brugler's 11th-ranked center prospect, is the only #d3fb player in the top 35 at any position.

The past three Division III draftees have been O-linemen: UW-W's Quinn Meinerz (2021; he was an All-Pro in 2024), St. John's' Ben Bartch (2020) and Hobart's Ali Marpet (2015).

Wondering whether any #d3fb players will get drafted this weekend? Seems unlikely.

@danebrugler.bsky.social mentions 59 D-III players in The Beast, but none have a draftable grade.

@fduffy.bsky.social profiled 230 players for ALLCITY Network, and just one, Middlebury iOL Thomas Perry, is D-III.

I have only the vaguest memory of missing a plane and all the other stuff I wrote about here before getting to the point. I do remember listening to MF Doom on the back roads of Massachusetts in a rental car, and I remember talking to Gennaro Leo:

Here's then-Trinity-coach Chuck Priore on the NESCAC skipping playoffs, in a 2005 column I wrote for @d3football:
“We can finish on a winning note. In the playoffs, only one team can do that. In ‘89, when I was at Union, we were 13-0 and lost to Dayton in the Stagg Bowl. I felt like we were 1-13.”

The Division III football gods let the fun travel to Susquehanna, Salisbury & Johns Hopkins for the quarterfinals, but all is back to normal for the semifinals.

The games are in Naperville & Alliance, and if I have to append states and school names to those, you must be new to #d3fb.

He was 58, and had coached the Blue Jays for 29 years. He had a 221-89-3 (.711) career record since taking over at Johns Hopkins in 1990.

Johns Hopkins will travel to Alliance for a semifinal, which is the site and scenario of program architect Jim Margraff’s last game.

Margraff died of a heart attack in his sleep on 1/2/19, less than a month after the Blue Jays came up just short in a 28-20 semifinal loss in Alliance on 12/8/18.

In the previous 32-team #d3fb playoff format, semifinals would have been played today and the #StaggBowl would be in six days, a Friday 7 p.m. kickoff.

In this first year of 40 teams and six weeks, we’ve got semis next Saturday, then 15 days until the championship on Sun. Jan. 5.

Oh how I will miss having the championship wrapped up by Christmas.

NCC/Springfield will have everyone's attention as the only #d3fb quarterfinal game kicking off on Central time.

For you #d3fb fans not familiar with mid-Atlantic geography, Baltimore is about two hours from both Selinsgrove, Pa. and Salisbury.

It'd be about a four-hour drive from Susquehanna to Salisbury.

At the quarterfinal stage of the playoffs, it's rare to have three games so close by.

Kicking off here at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field, one of the coolest venues in #d3fb. UMHB will go on defense first. Being a former defensive player, it seems smart for me to be at this game, but I'm wondering if I should have made the extra hour & change drive to Susquehanna.
