I think he based characters like the hulk and Ben Grimm more on himself than Reed, but I do know the current F4 head writer is writing Reed like he is autistic.

Infertility and miscarriage is something I carry with me always. Even though I was able to claw and scratch and fight my way to three kids. When I see it shown in movies well, I feel so seen and I feel so happy for the people experiencing infertility today because they will know they aren’t alone 💜

Conclusions: I love this movie. I love the reverence for Jack Kirby, I love the no homework for casual fans, I love the hope, I love the positive but realistic autism representation.
In my ranking, it goes:
1. Fantastic Four: First Steps
2. Thunderbolts*
3. Captain America: Winter Soldier

Then there’s the end credit, which is just a piece of a cartoon from the universe.
People were mad the movie never connected to Thunderbolts* but the thing is we should be EXCITED! We haven’t seen WHAT would make our heroes leave 838, what could it BE!!

Let’s talk about this mid and post credit-
My second conspiracy theory is that Dr. Doom potentially having Tony’s face is gunna be an accident. Doom’s face is disfigured in some way, he meets Franklin and Franklin, feeling the hurt in the galaxy left without Tony, fixes Doom’s face to look like him.

Okay conspiracy theory time:
The music playing when they believe Sue is dead is the same music played at Tony’s funeral.

I’ve mentioned this on other platforms but there is not a single mom I spoke with about Sue fighting Galactus who wasn’t absolutely sure she would win.
In the theater my prevailing feeling was “how DARE he try and take what she fought so hard for!”

SAY IT!!

I LOVE that we don’t see Reed really Mr. Fantastic out until he thinks Galactus hurt Sue. That is his WIFE he will destroy those who harm her!!

For awhile, this is a boiler plate marvel third act fight. Everyone gets to use their powers a little, looks like they’re gunna win.
And then everything falls apart

I love that Sue is scared, but ultimately she trusts her husband, her brother, and her friend. If they say they’re going to protect Franklin they’re going to protect him.

But more what? More conformity? More thinking in the box? And if he has more that what will he have less of? Less passion for things, less unique frame of mind?

Reed’s speech to Franklin was listed by MANY autistic marvel fans as the moment they knew this was an autism movie.
The world works very hard to explain to autistic people how wrong they are. Reed accepts that he is “wrong” and hopes more for his son…

This should be our rallying cry as humans. Do something well, do it for humanity.

Hubs, who is a therapist, loved Reed and Sue’s fight.
There are times my being autistic is good and helpful, and there are times it actively harms my personal and professional life.
Reed doesn’t mean to hurt people, but there isn’t a way for him to not be him. It’s a perpetual problem for them.

Every parent feels this way, but I think infertility parents feel an even deeper sense that their baby is a miracle, that they can’t just make another one.
To this day I feel a general anxiety that the universe will take my kids back.

If it had been 100 years ago, we would both be dead (if I had been lucky enough to survive my first labor which stalled out and I almost died).
My daughter didn’t cry for about two minutes, until she was revived by an amazing crew of doctors and nurses.

My third baby did not cry when she was born. She was born after a chemical pregnancy and a decision that “no matter what we were done”.
I’ve mentioned this before, but for the uninitiated my daughter was born with shoulder dystocia

Me: I don’t know how to explain that when I was in labor I could not have cared less who saw my naked body. Didn’t even register I was naked for HOURS.

My brother and I cracked up at that. It’s such a brother/sister moment, especially as your family sees you become a mom.

I know it’s cliche, but “the baby’s coming” is pretty much exactly what I said every time I gave birth
