yeah, I'm so frustrated by how insta works. so many features that make it actively hostile to sharing useful info and yet it's a primary source for so many 🫠

like the salt truck story -- it was just such a fundamental misunderstanding of what the local government would even consider doing, and it makes it hard to urge people to take action if they think the government is protecting them in ways it simply is not

I just hate what algorithmic and "story" style social media has done to people's understanding of stuff. everything appears without context, it's just a smoothie of ✨content✨

yeah what I meant is just that The Triibe seems to have the best strategy for insta-specific content that works well in that medium. I have been urging folks on insta to follow Unraveled but I think they by necessity have to link out more

yeah @thetriibe.com is doing the Lord's work on insta. the culture over there is definitely different, I don't think the format really well supports the OTG live posting (because of how non chronological / mixed together everything is)

this is also where individuals can add their own context -- now insta allows links in stories from anyone, you can screenshot content from elsewhere and add links. you can also add your own summary, noting the similarities between the Brighton Park and Franklin Park shootings and fed narratives

if you are on insta, I really encourage sharing direct local news information (reposting content from local news orgs/indie journos) into your stories and stating facts about what's happening (e.g., South Shore raid, ICE killing of Silverio Villegas González). info quality over there is so bad
