Excatly and here we are having that exact same argument. We telling people to walk around pitch black country roads without a source of light but wear a yellow jacket despite the fact nearly everyone carries a source of light in their pockets everywhere they go.

If its your only idea then no and maybe it's your only idea but it's official Ireland's only idea and it's a complete distraction as you can see because you've not mentioned a single proven safety intervention this entire time

In the country in pitch dark? Well they should bring a light with them and after that if they want wear high vis. Fine.

This is the major issue. High vis proponents seems to think it's some sort of silver bullet. When the evidence suggests otherwise. When people point out that evidence you get. 'well surely you'd just do it to be 0.01%* safer'

As I've said numerous times any safety improvement is tiny.
A call for people to carry lights for example would actually achieve something but of course that's not really dealing with the issue of speeding and distracted driving. Now a call for a network of ANPR cameras would achieve save lives

So who do you want to wear high vis and when? Because we've got school kids in cities wearing it in the middle of the day. The RSA is asking then to swear they'll wear it all the time
