09.05.2025 01:32 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Lovely! This kinda looks like it might be faster than traditional embroidery. Do you think it is?
30.04.2025 03:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I have a new #donorschoose project for some much needed storage for my library. I would really appreciate any help I can get. There is currently a 5X match offer! www.donorschoose.org/project/mode.... Thanks so much!
28.04.2025 19:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Tell your CA State Senator to support SB478. Itโs time for California to do more than lip service in support of book access. Letโs do this basic function and get a library lead to help push for equal access across California. CA kids deserve better. tinyurl.com/supportsb478
01.04.2025 23:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The data is clear. All CA students need & deserve equal access to school libraries with current collections curated by trained librarians. We need a state level library lead to help erase access disparity. CA limits our kidsโ access to books without even widespread banning.
01.04.2025 23:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0tinyurl.com/supportsb478 CA has the lowest number of school librarians per student in the country. By FAR. There is no one at the state level who oversees school libraries in CA, so most school districts ignore state law mandating certificated librarians in all schools.
01.04.2025 23:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Oh Amy, Iโm so sorry.
20.02.2025 23:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Book bans impact public libraries & bookstores, but itโs school libraries where they are rampant โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Many kids are unable to make it to the public library. They canโt drive, often times the library isnโt in walking distance. Itโs not that their grown-ups donโt want them to be library kids.

Please report this impersonator account.
Thank you.
And heists! So many heists.
12.08.2024 02:22 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I try to tell people whenever it comes up, and it seems to work for most minor burns. Let me know!!
16.03.2024 22:22 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This may sound weird, but toothpaste after a burn like that soothes it and helps prevent blisters. Just basic white toothpaste slathered over it and left alone to dry. Leave it on for a few hours. Ask me how I know. ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
16.03.2024 21:39 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Amazing that these two guys are mentioned in the same thread. They both attended the middle school I work in.
29.02.2024 07:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโm pretty sure thatโs what we both do already.
13.02.2024 14:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We have so many societal reasons for the literacy problem and no collective will to do the right thing. All of the big movements in education during my career so far seemed to have only made it worse.
13.02.2024 05:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Except that you got that annoying peaches song from the 90s in my head.
13.02.2024 04:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yes, my great teachers changed my life. No question. My parents never read, so I didnโt have that model at home. I became a teacher to do the same. Now I am a librarian to learn how to have reach across the whole school. This work is so important. I just hear Maryanne Wolf speak; it was inspiring.
13.02.2024 03:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If public libraries could find ways to get kids reading grades 3-8 with people in their branches, they would be helping us out in the schools a lot. So many kids in middle grades are reading below a 3rd grade level and just need more time and attention they they can get at school.
13.02.2024 02:31 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0With regard to the librarianโs role. Beyond collection development and marketing, kids need to read with people. They need to hear good readers while they follow along, and they need to read aloud to people who will listen and encourage them.
13.02.2024 02:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0We read through many Newberry winners each year in the 80s in my elementary school as a whole class. I have noticed a serious shift in how kids are being taught today. There is a much greater focus on short texts and treating the text as a job to get through.
13.02.2024 02:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0My observations of the current shift in teaching are directly related to how different my own experience was as a child in a low income school (where I read many novels in a classroom setting with deep discussions) and as a teacher early in my career (during a time when core novels were centered).
13.02.2024 02:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0No wonder kids hate reading. My own daughter who is an absolute bookworm never read a full novel in a classroom setting until EIGHTH grade. She read on her own, but how many of her classmates never did? And never read anything long enough to get deeply lost in it? Most kids are pretending to read.
12.02.2024 20:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 0The way that schools started shifting to constant text annotating has forced kids to see reading as a chore. They are given short texts to highlight and annotate with no purpose to the reading except to annotate and summarize. Who reads like that?
12.02.2024 20:30 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I donโt say it either. I call him the shadow.
