I want to rock and roll until about 10:30 and party three times a week

08.05.2025 15:44 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I accidentally discovered this wonderful life hack: the end of Jim Kweskin’s “Ladybugs’ Picnic” ( you know, from Sesame Street) leads into the beginning of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” in a really satisfying way.

18.02.2025 16:56 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0My favorite two Valentines I ever recieved were a candy heart that said "BOOK CLUB," and a card from a second grader when the first live-action Transformers movie came out: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings, Valentine." I wish you both sentiments today, and probably most days

Still from Disney short Football: Now and Then, 1953. Directed by Jack Kinney.

SEATTLE JUST VOTED TO ENACT A TAX ON MILLIONAIRE BUSINESSES TO BUILD SOCIAL HOUSING.
Late results tend to favor left wing results, so the chance of this flipping in the coming days is near zero.
A way to think about "AI" is that it's like single-use plastic: Super-convenient, sold as disposable, designed to be used without much thought, and while it's easy to get annoyed with your mom for using it, the real problem are the dudes destroying the planet in order to keep shoveling it out

I know we’re all overloaded with things to worry about and moral imperatives.
But it is my conviction that even wide and smooth enough shoulders to park a car on aren’t lanes, and I think if everyone committed to that it would increase our collective net peace and thriving.

27.01.2025 21:20 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0basically, dude goes to his buddies and is like "i saw her again! you didn't believe me last time but I did see her THIS time!" who did he see? well! turn the page to find out!!
I'll tell you who he saw: a MERMAID!! and we see her too, in flashback! she promises him she'll be back tomorrow morning. I don't trust this mermaid but the dude loves her and definitely does
so dude's buddies are like, welp, he's definitely crazy, let's wall him up in a cave for his own good. but dude knows the clock is ticking! so bam! he busts out of the cave just as the morning sun is rising!!
and the next day the dude's buddies find his tracks beginning at the cave and ending at the lake shore - he's gone! they conclude he must've frowned because mermaids aren't real and EVERY CENTAUR KNOWS THAT, TWIST IN THE LAST PANEL!!! THEY WERE CENTAURS THE WHOLE TIME AND EVERY PANEL WAS FRAMED TO HIDE THAT UNTIL NOW!! STRAIGHT UP HORSEFOLK ALL ALONG
I am prepared to call this, "They Didn't Believe Him" from Unexplored Worlds: The Steve Ditko Archives Vol 2, the perfect 4-page comic.

More data continued: I'm obsessed with a two-singer band people often say they can't tell the singers apart in, and I remember the time when I couldn't, but that was a long time ago.
More data: I can tell George's and Ringo's voices. I can tell John's speaking voice from Paul's if they're not singing. There are other rock bands where I can tell the different voices apart even though I don't know the names of the players involved.
If you have a take on this I'm curious to hear: I like the Beatles but I can't tell John's voice from Paul's.
