I'm no expert but fairly sure that language 50 years ago would be different than today.
There's 1 American saying something that bugs me.
"I could care less" makes no sense
Implying that you do care.
"I couldn't care less" makes more sense.

My grandpa was a Blue Jays fan.
I remember when they won in the early 90s phoning in the middle of the night forgetting the time difference he was so happy.

I know that even knowing they didn't win he'd have taken pride in taking it all the way to game 7.
