The anti-car brigade is really fucking weird.
The way they act like someone who drives regularly kills babies and kicks old ladies down the stairs is really fucking bizarre.
It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.

Little Richard: Keep A Knockin'
Now I'm thinking about Little Richard, Chuck Berry, then pop radio of the '60s going into the '70 with Motown and Jackson 5 and Stevie Wonder, and in my teens in the '80s, suddenly a lot of 'PURE ROCK HITS (guitar riff) RADIO' and it's white hair metal everywhere. Anyway... where was I oh yeah THIS

Part of the reason people who work professionally on homelessness policy coalesced behind "housing first" is because it is the cheapest possible solution (even cheaper for government overall than doing nothing is) and all the agencies that work on this are cash strapped.

CBS Newsβ Margaret Brennan Under Fire for βHostileβ Interview With Hakeem Jeffries
Was Brennan trying to cater to new CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss?
And there was this Sunday. After a long sudden break in the interview, she returns with this context-less question, out of the blue, an "aren't you just like Trump?" kinda question.

E-bikes could cut carbon, congestion, and costs β if cities take them seriously
E-bike sales are booming, providing a clean form of transportation that also improves public health. Yet cities remain committed to cars.
"Even in Detroit, a historic center of American car manufacturing and car culture, e-bikes are picking up speed. But respondents to an e-bike user survey Rybarczyk conducted said that Detroitβs bike lanes arenβt well-maintained..."

Banning Right Turns on Red: Lessons From Atlanta
How road safety activists passed a law that could make roads much safer.
When turning right, "attention is focused on oncoming traffic from their left β not on people walking across the street or waiting in the bike lane on their right. With their attention elsewhere, drivers are more likely to turn into people outside of cars who have the pedestrian signal to cross.β

Creepy translucent mask painted like a psycho, hanging from a tree in gloomy New Orleans City Park, November, just after the 2016 Presidential election.
We were about to embark on a New Orleans vacation morning after the election. So, no sleep, a lot of drinking in an airport bar, more than we usually do at 7 am. Lot of drinking in NOLA, but that was normal. Rode bike into City Park, abandoned spot with graffiti and creepy art. Photo captures mood:

Abuse of process
Open corruption
Destruction of the notion of "public"
Bad taste
All during a government shutdown necessitated by tax cut for some of the zillionaires who paid for the ball room.
