Thane Krios remembers every single time he comes across Commander Shephard picking her nose - in perfect detail.

Just saying, perfect memory recall isn't all it's cracked up to be.

that moment when YT recommends you a flat earth live stream.

B****, who do you think I am?

Also why do these guys always use ultra complex language? My theory is that they don't understand what anybody is saying, so they all stand in a circle nodding and saying "Yes, that makes perfect sense."

Not too bad at all. Better than I'd have done coming into it blind xD

It's a full blown space fantasy/classic fantasy mix (With some proper scifi moments in between) <<< but that makes it sound a lot cooler than it really is xD

Took my dad to an awesome little secondhand bookshop, and this is what I picked up (he found the entire ringworld series, which I'm jealous about, and a stack of E.C.Tubb books he's missing. So he's happy.

Finishing an old chapter I started years ago, well before the Ukraine invasion, and one of my characters said "They've weaponised drones, that's just madness" ... And it hit me hard. Dang. Might have to retcon some history with early drone warfare and a ban.

2000 words written in 2 days. That's more than the previous 2 months.

On a role. fingers crossed it lasts.

I might do well, but that's a very small hope. A fools hope. We'll see. I'd be super happy if I land in the 3rd Round. Sounds like from there onwards is for well received works.

I mean, I get it. The most professional book should be held up high. But I was hoping that other strengths in a work would also have equal footing, at least at the beginning. I feel like I've been punked.

Oh dear. Just checked in one of the competitions I entered and read through the pass criteria for Round 1. They're eliminating books based on grammar and editing first ... okay, that means I'm out first stage. Wish I knew that before spending all that money entering to begin with :(

Hardly the actions of evil.

I feel like the entire point of the books is lost on you. There are no heroes, even those who want the best for all will fail. Because enough humans will manipulate your teachings and do bad in your name, regardless. Ie all humans are flawed.

This has to be the weird take. You say he was powerless and trapped and then in the same sentence said he didn't try.

The guy saw all potential realities, realised humans are shit and will do bad in his name no matter what he tries, so he decides to take the path that causes the least pain.

Book Review for the Skyship of Truskal:

This is the first time reading D.M. Barnham's work, and what a wonderful, refreshing book to have fallen into. A tale riddled with adventure, imaginative worlds, customs and words, and humour. A story about a young girl, Telana, fighting and proving the odds wrong in an all too familiar world ruled by men. Telana's goal is to build a skyship, but the story is about overcoming the setbacks, gaining allies because of her genuine nature, and setting forth on the adventure of her life. And that epilogue...nicely done!

1st of the Month self promo day! ( made it on time this time!)

I got a new review: It's epic (stolen from TK)

If you like Terry Pratchett then you might like the Skyship of Truskal. It has the odd lol within. Drama, adventure, a cranky kid that grows into themselves.

I'm re-uploading the Skyship of Truskal right now.
All endnotes, chapter listings and formatting should be corrected.
I spent a lot of dollarydoos (it's a lot for this poor soul) buying the software to fix KC's fk-up. So I just need 70 to 100 of you to buy an ebook to make up for it. Any takers?

The original Far Side Cow Tools Cartoon by Gary Larson. A cow stands on its hind legs behind a table, staring blankly at the viewer from behind its heavy brow ridge. On the table are four crudely made tools: a lump, a lump with an offset crooked handle, a long stick with hooked prongs at the end, and a crude handsaw with irregular teeth. In the background a barn sits on a hill. Caption reads, "Cow tools."

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

β€œI am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, β€˜What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, β€˜I'd rather die.’” 🫑
