Yeah, we ran a kickstarter last year, and have a different product about to hit the water. If nothing changes, we'll have a >$200,000 tax bill. That's multiple people's salaries.

*In a single player experience, Cheating in multiplayer is robbing other people of fun, and that sucks.

IMO People are better experts on what they have fun with than designers. I don't think anyone is robbing themselves of anything by skipping (or cheating*) their way through an experience. That doesn't mean all games have to be for all people, and difficult games still have their place.

As a board game developer, and specifically one who operates on Kickstarter, basically any board game Kickstarter run in the past 6-12 months just saw their operating profit vanish in a cloud of smoke. Our industry is about to get decimated.

IME people don't like admitting that their takes are subjective. A decent chunk of internet culture lacks the nuance to recognize that subjective takes are valid and important, that a vast majority of criticism is subjective, and that they aren't rooting in objectivity when they speak.
