Ugh, I clicked over to read the pieces and guess what? They rely on the same old "victim didn't complain at the time"/"she contradicts herself" rape apologia. Yeah, the fact that TERFs broke the story was probably a calculated effort to get a famous leftist canceled... but he's still an asshole.

1) yes and 2) I have beta read for many, many a novel (and even one poetry chapbook). 👀

I say this as a fandom person who hasn't written RPF myself, but it's very much a part of a healthy fandom ecosystem. they aren't (usually, lol) writing it because they think it actually happened/want it to happen! but it's an excellent jumping off point for imagining what-if scenarios.

bringing it into mainstream publications is like leaking your private groupchat. it puts it in front of people who aren't part of the culture, may assume the worst, maybe make a mockery out of it, & bring unwanted exposure bc writers thought they were just making it for a circle of 25 people max.
