IMO as long as the US doesn't cut JPY will go to lows not seen in decades. Gov cannot afford to raise rates, CB is still on 'transitory' inflation.

Interesting to me that the peak is exactly where 'UserIsBlueVerified' began to give an x4 boost in the algorithm.
Overriding an algorithm that maximizes engagement really hurts usage. X probably did a bit as well.

IDK how it's even assigned. The creator of Spy X family randomly got a gold one, Zero Hedge has a blue one (not paid).

Excerpt from the did:plc specification, which is the spec that governs your "identity" within Bluesky/AT Protocol
Under the section of "Privacy and Security Concerns", it notes:
"The full history of DID operations and updates, including timestamps, is permanently publicly accessible. This is true even after DID deactivation. It is important to recognize (and communicate to account holders) that any personally identifiable information (PII) encoded in alsoKnownAs URIs will be publicly visible even after DID deactivation, and can not be redacted or purged.
In the context of atproto, this includes the full history of handle updates and PDS locations (URLs) over time. To be explicit, it does not include any other account metadata such as email addresses or IP addresses. Handle history could potentially de-anonymize account holders if they switch handles between a known identity and an anonymous or pseudonymous identity."
Highlight on "In the context of atproto, this includes the full history of handle updates and PDS locations (URLs) over time," your handle changes are public!
fyi bluesky/atproto users:
your handle changes are public data, be wary if you plan to change your handle after changing your identity (e.g. transitioning)

I remember someone made a site for this for Twitter (X) a few years ago. Not sure if it was just based on scraped data.

Meta's fatal assumption is that having the instagram social graph as a starting point was an advantage rather than a disadvantage.

Twitter announcement of mandatory payment for account registration.
Whether intentional or not this will end up being a massive P hack because nobody would register a bot in those regions when they could just use a VPN :P.

Anecdotally I think the attack rate, especially in 40+ & more wealthy people might be somewhat lower than 100/95% (80%?). Everyone I know who got quite sick with it Summer / Fall thought they were first episodes.

Makes sense. People find the most morally satisfying to them conclusion the most plausible.

Humans can simulate a broad range of alternative futures. But how do we generate our most *realistic* scenario?
In a new paper with @jayvanbavel.bsky.social, we find that people rely on a "best-case heuristic" when making seemingly realistic predictions.

Could allow sub users (IE alice@shinoji-research.com) and have a system similar to verified orgs. I like it as it encourages people to own their own domains.

Makes sense. I got mine through the signup form and waiting, not sure what the rate on those is.
Looking at posts took, growth seems pretty steady exponential rather than spikes a'la mastodon / threads.

Isn't it mostly capped by invites (not sure how the rollout of those works)? Feels like the most active 'not X / twitter' microblogging platform already.
Definitely in terms of actually having interesting content.

I don't think so. I had to add a TXT to my domain & that was it.
Presumptively if you bought the domain you could take my handle, but not my account.

I'd assume these things are done off of some sort of classifier algorithm with genetic data from known pure breds? If the human DNA came back with anything, one has to think they're just using a random number generator or cold reading.
