I'm half-black and half-white. So even if we don't 100% agree on race stuff, I still want to hear you and the stuff you care about.

Rip I guess, wish the conversation didn't immediately jump to race. Stay safe

They didn't/wouldn't have broken any laws.

I think instead of trying to suppress any negative energy, he should've created an outlet for it. Something controlled and coordinated. If one-by-one they all boo'd Trump until they all got kicked out that would have wasted time, delayed any lies and derailed trump. No one would've gotten arrested.

Did that happen during the address? I'm sorry I must have missed that. I thought I saw reporting that Hakeem told dems not to make a scene.

I have a family member who frustrates me to no end because they keep trying to both sides me. They're one of the "in the middle" voters I think Jeffries wants to win over, and a top to bottom list will do absolutely nothing for them, I've tried that already. This person wants to feel heard above all

This is good stuff, I love it all. The problem is the messaging. That's the same problem I have with how dem leadership decided to present themselves tonight. Nobody gets excited by a wall of text or feels heard by a group of representatives sitting quietly as US values are turned on their head.

He just sat there and let Trump continue to spread more lies, insult our allies, glaze our enemies, harass Jeffries' colleagues, and more. Calling Jeffries out for that failiure is a far cry from crippling him. Trying to blame this on white people is weird too ngl. Maybe they just disagree with you?

It was hard to watch the Dems just let Trump have a rally to disrespect and trash everything the US stands for. Absolutely humiliating. Under your leadership, there was no cohesive idea. Pink suits and auction signs as Trump freely berated your colleagues. Who and what are you representing? So weak

A group of Democratic members of Congress are seated in the chamber, holding up protest signs during Donald Trump’s 2024 State of the Union address. The signs, shaped like handheld paddles, display various messages in bold capital letters. Some signs read β€œSAVE MEDICAID”, others say β€œFALSE”, and one sign states β€œMUSK STEALS”. A representative in the front holds a handwritten sign that reads β€œThat’s a LIE!”. The expressions among the lawmakers vary, with some looking serious and others appearing to engage with colleagues. The setting is a formal congressional gathering, with members dressed in professional attire.

Congressman Al Green’s method of protest is compelling without a doubt…but these signs I don’t think are effective.

They look polite and soft.

If you’re going to hold up a sign, make it big and bold β€” or do what Al Green did.

People have been saying it looks like they’re at an auction.

Democrats in silence as the President insults them to their faces is a foreboding omen.

Boo until the Speaker kicks you out. The only way we can resist this tyranny is by simply not recognizing it as legitimate.

When it is only Republicans in the room, it will look terrible for them.

I wish this act meant something but it doesn't. The only people who will see that you did this are people who wish you did more. It's tough to see you referencing the Civil Rights Movement as inspiration when this would hardly count as civil disobedience. This wasn't inconvenient to a single person.

low key the most egregious condescension is this idea that conservatives do not have agency and are not making choices but are purely reactive and have no mind of their own

It's amazing that feminism succeeded in empowering women and expanding the scope what what it means to be a woman. In a perfect world that would've been accompanied by addressing what it meant to be a man and how our role as changed and liberated us from old norms.

To me if it's pretty obvious a group of people don't like something being said about them you probably shouldn't say it.
If the reaction to learning guys go right because they don't like the way the left make them feel is to insult them further I have to wonder what's the goal?
