in the string arrangement playground messaging of "Timothy." It's so awful I'd dub the album for people and deliberately leave it off. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but this song bums the whole album out. 3/4

the brooding title track should've all been enduring early 90s alternative hits.

Second, there's a lot of catchy wit in songs like "Here Today Gone Tomorrow" and "Posters."

Third, this album is perfect except for what might be the worst song of the decade ... 2/4

dada - Puzzle (1992)

A lot to say about this album. First, it's one of my favorites of the 90s. So many great songs. Unfortunately it seems "Dizz Knee Land" shunted dada into the novelty bin. That's really unfair. Perfect pop/rock like "Surround, "Dim," "Who You Are," and ... 1/4

Let me tell you about the first time I heard Dirt at the Great Went and tears welled up in my eyes.

They have *absurd* lyrics in a lot of songs, but so did Lewis Carroll and James Joyce

But I'd point to their *poignant* lyrics too. If I Could, Velvet Sea (and it's spiritual successor Shade), and others.

They run the gamut and there's a whole lot to soak in.

An interesting artifact, surprisingly relevant today.

Late 80s industrial beat heavy, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist manifesto raps. I'd have said they were trying to sound exactly like Pretty Hate Machine, but this came out at the same time as the NIN debut.

I think the GOTF, Kasvot, Sigma Oasis run is up there with any era of creativity. Obviously many of the songs were developed over a longer period of time live, but those were released within a year of one another.

And Evolve continued the trend. It's a blessing being along for the ride.

It's all been the lumpiest, tastiest gravy ever since.

I'd put 8/17/97. It capped the Went Gin set, had the OG full moon, lights down glow stick war. It also happened at my first Phish shows, so...attendance bias. It still brings the goosebumps.

The shelter we were at does doggie day out. Folks can take dogs out for a day of walks and parks and fun. A reprieve from the kennels, even for a few hours. I'd guess shelters near you do the same. Would be a cool activity.

In the past year I listened to the audiobooks and still stopped at 9 (or was it 10?). Same feeling, like this is so tedious. The names are difficult to keep straight without the book when the cast and third person narrator number explodes.

I'll get through it someday.
