A new short documentary follows two people who met in virtual reality, as furries, who go on to complete a viscerally physical exchange: one donates a kidney to the other.

76. It's not always feasible to do, but furry con/general public interactions like Anthrocon's fursuit parade and block party are amazing for the goodwill they engender among non-furries.

There is a physical limit that we occasionally run into on book size and wordcount. Rukis's HeartTheft can be printed as one book in hardcover because the spine can withstand it, but it has to be printed as two volumes for softcover, as otherwise it would tear itself apart.

Also really really hoping this one doesn't undergo the Eternal Party treatment from first to last draft (as I recall, that was roughly 75k to 120k), because then someone at @furplanet.com is going to have to break it to me that I actually wrote two books, not one.

I am close to the end of the writing. A little on the current chapter and the final chapter are all that I have left to do there. On Patreon though, there's still something like five chapters left as I am trying to work ahead.

"The Modern Pleasuremage" is just a few words shy of 130k right now. I keep feeling foolish trying to guess the final wordcount, but first draft ought to be under 140k. #amwriting

Weirdly, one of the things I remember most from On a Pale Horse in particular is how weird I -- a horny teenager at the time -- found all of many, many digressions revolving around sex in the book. It perhaps explains me because I wanted stories to deal with sex better.

67. I get why people are annoyed by the "Oh, you're a non-furry artist who is struggling? Why not get yourself some of that sweet, sweet furry commission money?" idea, but at the same time I like the idea that in furry, we try to take care of our artists, damn it.

I've been enjoying posting little excerpts from my current project, but I've hit the point where doing much more risks massive end-of-story spoilers. Even mentioning who Aisha is talking with is a spoiler.

eh, I don't know. From my experience working with publishers, the problem with genres is usually when one is missing at the table: we might miss a sale to the person who really wanted sci-fi if we didn't have sci-fi on offer. If you stick to doing the thing you want, you'll find an audience for it.

66. I like how modern manufacturing has allowed a plethora of different types of art to be sold: not just art prints, but stickers, standees, buttons, etc. I just think there needs to be more magnets. There's never enough magnets!

65. Overall I feel that we've been bad about curating our own history. There's been a few people doing archive work, but not a great collective movement. Wikifur languishes.

64. At some point, I hope we get a really good art historian to examine the trends and movements within the fandom. Even I, as color blind as I can be at times, have noticed the rise and fall of some artistic ideas. I would voraciously read more about that.
