What do we even think we are negotiating here? A "deal" that will be subject to constant threats to tear it up based on the arbitrary moment-to-moment mood swings of our trading partner's president?

Trump's word is meaningless, why delude ourselves to believe he'd honour any "deal" we'd negotiate?
