Needless to say I’m now very cold and wet.

Fortunately, my 9:30 meeting has been cancelled, so I’m huddled under a heated blanket with a big cup of tea.

Anyway, a healthy society works on community responsibility. Children aren’t the “possession” of their parents (to flourish or flounder depending on their luck of birth) but the responsibility of the community/society they are part of to enable them, regardless of birth, to thrive regardless.

There’s an argument that that’s essentially selective breeding: If you’re wealthy, you’re entitled to as many children as you like - we’re like more of you!

But poor people should be dissuaded from having children - as punishment for being poor? Or just to eliminate “their kind” from society?

This holiday season, give Jeff Bezos and Amazon the gift of zero dollars. 🥰

The welfare state is designed to support the wellbeing of nation regardless of individual status. It’s not the business of the state to decide who is worthy of having children (or which children are worthy of being supported). The cap is not far removed from restricting children to the wealthy.

NION Women Rejects Anti-Trans Narrative at Kenwood Ladies Pond Image of women swimming in the wild

🏊‍♀️The women who swim at Kenwood Ladies Pond have already made their decision.

In 2024, almost 900 members voted to keep their trans-inclusive policy - a policy that has worked peacefully since 2019.

Now, a small campaign group is seeking to overturn that democratic decision through the courts.

If anyone wants a great, exciting journey, can I recommend driving up to Aberdeen in the dark. The mist has been falling so low and think in the evening that everything has taken the look of a particularly eerie ghost story.

I know the Peladon adventures are not fan favourites, but I’ve always had a massive soft spot for them. They always felt to me like core-Pertwee era Who. And I still sing Agador’s lullaby to my kids…

I do hope so. We need more Narvin!
