"Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony".
22.02.2026 01:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's the optimistic result anyhow
20.02.2026 23:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Too late.
20.02.2026 18:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's 86,000 sq ft.
This is would be 4 in 2600-ish sq ft.
In 2600sq ft? Pretty sure it'd have to be very vertical.
18.02.2026 20:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wouldn't be upset to live next to one of those if it was creatively designed, but I have no idea how transit/etc could handle it around here at present.
18.02.2026 20:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Based on those guidelines, in theory you could take one of those lots which is 1/4 ac, subdivide it in 4, and build 4 x 4 unit dwellings on it. Would be interesting to see what that would look like. How you'd structure access, utilities, etc.
18.02.2026 20:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I wonder if there is some sort of ethical automation that could solve this for a relatively constrained problem like HOA/Condo management.
18.02.2026 18:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So many nice things in the US depend on a basic level of fair dealing amongst the parties.
So many of them fall down on the US common attitude of "well, if I didn't do it, someone else would".
I think it was maybe MSNBC on a live segment and didn't have an actual link to a source or anything.
18.02.2026 17:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Curious how you feel about that data. I saw some not long ago, and I forget where - but the numbers seemed wildly improbable. Which data have you seen on that, wondering if it's the same?
18.02.2026 17:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Solves zoning, but seems like it'll get stuck in things like setbacks, fire code, light blockage, all that stuff with those sizes.
18.02.2026 17:04 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So those of us who spend our whole lives sitting scanning left to right across displays are doomed? Already 20 years in to "eye strain" headaches.
17.02.2026 18:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm picturing a 7 year old making a 4th amendment argument against you here.
14.02.2026 15:16 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, he told you what he was going to do I suppose.
12.02.2026 17:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maybe if you roll 0, it's a critical miss and you lose your ability to bring future cases. Or you get prosecuted instead.
11.02.2026 16:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So, how low does the market have to go for us to enforce laws again?
11.02.2026 16:53 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0He talks a good game.
But the Illinois State Police were still helping ICE in Chicago.
And nobody in Illinois govt has done a thing about the people shot/murdered by ICE in their time here.
I'll give him credit when Silverio Villegas GonzΓ‘lez's murderers face trial, even if IL loses.
5th Circuit? Presumably they'd find some way to make it worse, not better.
07.02.2026 02:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They would have to at least write an equal number of stories about how the administration is actually anti-racist. Otherwise the coverage wouldn't be balanced and fair.
06.02.2026 16:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Boy "I've been studying market analysis for years and nobody saw this coming" is the crypto version of "vaccines are bad I've done the research"
05.02.2026 23:42 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Did he close his eyes and put his fingers in his ears as he answered?
03.02.2026 19:16 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm 90% certain it's the rise in cellphones/screens, which happened to coincide with the (re)rise in the size of vehicles.
Unless the boats of the 60s/70s also had this issue, and maybe they did.
There's for sure blind spots F&R of a big vehicle, which I could see leading to incidents in parking lots, driveways, etc for sure.
But by the time someone on the road/crosswalk is in those blind spots, the accident has already happened.
As someone who drives a large truck and small cars, I don't get it. My F150 has great lines of sight. I keep seeing discussions about how it's because cars are getting bigger.
Pretty sure it's almost entirely because of drivers getting worse and worse.
Don't think anyone ever suggested heating a home with them - I mean, he did it as an experiment, but not as a serious intent.
People use them to heat a small area, one might refer to a perhaps a space, when the central system perhaps is not keeping said space to the desired heat.
If only someone had done an extensive video on heating and space heaters, even.
30.01.2026 20:50 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How is a resistive electric heater inefficient?
