All surviving former IDF Chiefs of Staff, Mossad directors, Shin Bet Chiefs and Police Commissioners have issued a joint statement warning Israel that Netanyahu is leading the nation to unprecedented defeat. (Restart Israel)

'"He's my dentist", "she's my cousin"... To hire, feed or shelter illegal immigrants is a crime. Report all illegal immigrants'. Masterpiece of prophecy.

I’m sorry but the NYT is spot on. If the economy doesn’t crater, it’s more than likely that the tariffs become a permanent part of the US tax regime

On the other place, an American was complaining that Europeans "all thought they'd be deported" if they went to US.
(Suspect its more, risk unpleasant outcome, why risk it. Every country has seen stories about their people being deported, or worse.)

What's to be done?
1. Stick to the knitting: focus on fixing the Single Market. "The IMF estimates that internal EU trade barriers are equivalent to a 45% tariff on goods and a staggering 110% tariff on services."
2. Develop defence. (Trump's biggest hold over EU countries.)

The surrender in Turnberry
11 thoughts on the EU-US trade deal
Interesting post by @lugaricano.bsky.social
EU failure at Turnberry was not Von der Leyen’s fault, despite blame from many European politicians. It was the inevitable outcome of structural problems that follow choices made by the member states themselves.

I agree that both internal discussion and discussion with others is a great way to organise thoughts too.
The problem with AI is that its an alternative to those as well as to writing.

Higher taxes, higher government revenues. Except, higher walls mean less competitive companies, lower exports, lower profits, lower government revenues.

A photo taken through the window of a train. The name of the station "Newton for Hyde" can be seen on a sign. Inside the train a piece of paper is held up to the window with a sketch of a bewigged gentleman holding up a sign saying "Leibnitz for Jekyll"
Nerdy joke warning. 😁 I've been planning this since I first saw the Newton for Hyde sign.

The only flaw: there's no NATO for drugs. There's no organisation arranging drug development where who pays what can be rebalanced.
Other countries get better prices because their medical system negotiates as one, unlike the US medical system. They also regulate prices.

To cheer things up a bit more, perhaps no government can really curb what big businesses wants to do in one of the areas mentioned: AI.

This is the same deal Meta tried to foist on India, and it would have had the same outcomes there. It still will, unfortunately—just in slightly less drastic ways.

Obvious point this, but people need to stop believing what they are told by Farage, GB News, and the general declinist and alarmist media narrative and start paying attention to what is really going on regarding crime in this country.
The BBC and mainstream media have a duty to get the truth out.
