I think the newer one with the Amish had the right idea even if the execution wasn't great.

They could have easily done them as a loosely connected anthology series, and I think it could have been stronger.

Trying to expand on and explain a story that didn't really need it just ended up getting convoluted and repetitive.

Most of these things can be solved by eliminating the assumption of operational alignment, and establishing ground rules to work together. Its annoying because it feels like you don't trust your partners, but it results in better outcomes in the long term

Like it might make sense to work with someone with a large social media following to organize a protest, especially if they post a lot of stuff you agree with. But they might end up using your protest to promote themselves instead of using their following to promote the protest. 2/

I think that one of the biggest challenges with any kind of advocacy is that we're generally very good at determining value alignment, but very bad at determining operational alignment.

To work with someone it isn't enough to agree about the overall thing you want to accomplish. 1/
