One of the hardest things to wrap one’s mind around is that these dudes can write this shit utterly convinced that they’re not having an emotion.

The common threads I keep seeing in all anti-democratic American factions are these:

1.) Civil society will always be there, regardless of how badly we neglect or abuse it.

2.) Sincere conviction is cringe.

It seems like what you're talking about is AI replacing historians, though, not assisting? And yes, that does sound awful.
