There has been a liberal/progressive shift towards diversity across my lifetime, which all governments codefied into law. But also, perhaps, governments' policies only reflected public attitudes as they became more accustomed to diversity. But it was necessary; Enoch Powell was popular.

As a small woman I can report there was definitely sexism, heightism as well as localism at play. These days I am more assertive but the bar scrum wasn't always great. Not defending queuing but it is at least fair.
