Trying my best, and failing, to become the best fantasy author I can. In the meantime, we tweet.

So while I still wish this case wouldβve gone to trial, and believe the amount given per work should have been EVEN higher, $1.5 billion in settlement AND the destruction of infringing datasets is still a fantastic start! Congratulations to all those involved as these things are not easy!
May we all find wives who will laugh at butt jokes out of nowhere.
03.09.2025 02:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Exactly! Not to mention, backgrounds are so much better than having to go through a book to look up the skills you need to assign.
27.08.2025 03:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah same boat. Not to say 5E is a bad game - I mean, it was good enough that advantage/disadvantage has become widespread in F20 games - but I just feel like 13th Age did it all better.
Plus, backgrounds. Backgrounds will make every game better.
Yeah, I was surprised how much I loved 13A because I took one look at both 3e and 4e and said, "I'll stick with World of Darkness / Warhammer Roleplay 3e". 13A was the first F20 that I actually wanted to play.
27.08.2025 01:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What I really liked about 13A was how streamlined the combat was - monsters are wicked easy to map out, distances are very broad, theater of the mind over grid maps. Backgrounds are the best thing that RPGs have ever ignored. Icons as published were meh, but lots of ways to homebrew improvements.
27.08.2025 01:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also went all in on the 2E Kickstarter - gotmyself a regular edition, collectors and the art book.
The thing I find funny about my love for 13th Age is that I am not good at imrpov AT ALL - my notes tend to be 3k words. Tons of exposition, multiple preplanned paths that lead from a to z, etc.
I know all about 13th Age, since I've been playing it ever since it got published. Demon Lord and Draw Steel seems like it goes in the exact opposite direction. What do you like about them?
27.08.2025 00:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have never even heard of the Scarred Lands, but I am also a perpetual make my own setting GM.

24.08.2025 07:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I always considered it more of the "I have never rolled a d20 in my life but by God do I love big numbers" class.
22.08.2025 03:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 013A has been my F20 game of choice ever since the 1E came out, and I do not agree with that at all. I always pitched it as D&D where combat is fast and fun, without the tactical bullshit. It emphasizes theater of the mind - that is the exact *opposite* of tactical play!
22.08.2025 03:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Okay. I need someone to explain how on earth 13th Age is in the same conversation as Lancer and Pathfinder, because I would consider 13th Age the exact opposite of these kinds of games. I mean Lancer has so much crunch it should have partnered with a Crunch bar for its marketing!
22.08.2025 02:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Wait, that's me and my dumb ass question. Am I famous now?
Go buy 13th Age 2E! It's D&D that is actually fun! The rules are wicked easy! And it only takes a minute to come up with a monster! And you get a huge ass D6 that gives everyone damage every round! What more do you want?

That would be Mage: The Awakening.
Oh man, that was my first fantasy RPG. I loved all the physical bits. Half the reason I am interested in Daggerheart is because of the cards.

Andoe S2 was not bad by any means, but it was far too contemporary. Star Wars music should only have one mood: operatic.
What Andor really gets right is that you don't actually have to have ever given a damn about the SW universe to get into it

The images reads: "Ancestor, Academic, Artist & friend. Wayne June. Twelve years ago, Tyler and I reached out to Wayne, humbly asking him to narrate our indie gameβs trailer. Since those magical moments when we first paired his reading with the footage, it has been an incredible and fulfilling collaboration. Wayneβs singular baritone and masterful cadence elevated everything he read. He was a consummate professional, and his love of his craft was an inspiration. His inimitable work is woven into the very fabric of our industry in a way that cannot be forgotten. It is one of my lifeβs greatest honors to have written for him this past decade. Though I never got to shake his hand, I knew him to be a friend. Thank you, Wayne. -Chris Bourassa, for Tyler Sigman and the Red Hook team"
"Go with grace into the great beyond..."
We at Red Hook are heartbroken to confirm the passing of our beloved voice actor, Wayne June.
