You wanted a bold, radical left-wing political party that's unafraid to call out the billionaires in power?
Well here it is π
Green graphic of Zack Polanski with the words "i voted for Zack"
This time next week Zack could be the leader of the Green Party of England & Wales.
But you need to vote for him!
You have until midday on Saturday 30th August to join me and #BackZack
Campaign graphic for Zack Polanski campaign. Graphic reads "I voted for Zack" with a photo of Zack on a green background
I want a bold Green Party that's unafraid to stand up to those in power. That's why I've voted for @zackpolanski.bsky.social for leader
At a critical moment in British politics, we have to call out hate and build a fairer future for everyone. I think Zack can do that
Fascists came to Islington to intimidate refugees and spread hate. We said get out β
Proud to stand with local people and @islingtongreens.bsky.social to defend migrants and reject the far right
Sex Matters' attempt to stop trans women using the Kenwood Ladies Pond is small-minded and joyless
Sure, there's bigger battles to win for trans rights. But it's also important that edenic sanctuaries like the pond are open to all women
I loved this piece π

The political weather really is shifting for the Greens in London.
Another by election win - this time in Greenwich.
900 trans+ people and allies showed up for yesterdayβs mass lobby of Parliament, drawing attention to the cruel and unworkable guidance that the EHRC is pushing regarding toilets and changing rooms etc.
This beats the previous record for #LGBTQ lobbying set in the 1980s against Section 28.
"But if killing 23 civilians at an aid distribution site is not terrorism, how can we possibly be expected to accept that spray-painting a plane is?"
I should stop being surprised at how low our govt will stoop. Today though I'm more disgusted than usual π΅πΈ

When will Starmer learn that no matter how good his Nigel Farage impression gets, it won't save him from wipeout at the hands of Reform? Here's another idea - how about doing the work that's needed to actually make people's lives better? π§΅

As Labour caves in to the right's culture war yet again, I'm proud to be an @greenparty.org.uk member and to firmly stand behind our party's policy to champion trans rights π

As a science-led institution, why do you support a business ignoring climate science and the existential threat posed by environmental breakdown?
REAL HOPE. REAL CHANGE "It's horrifying to see Keir Starmer follow Trump's lead, gutting our international aid budget to increase defence spending. This is naive populism playing with life-and-death decisions." Ellie Chowns MP North Herefordshire Green Party Promoted by Chris Williams on behalf of The Green Party, both at PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ
"Taking money from the poorest in the name of defence is both cruel and unnecessary. Itβs a choice and itβs the wrong one."

Books are...
Peace! Books! Freedom! by Rosa Schling
Regenesis by George Monbiot (ARC from the charity shop, hence weird cover)
Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
Couplets by Maggie Millner
I made an effort to read more last year (esp since summer) so here are the best books I read in 2024
In particular, I implore you to read Our Wives Under the Sea (mesmerising, heartbreaking, terrifying) and Couplets (why is nobody talking about this big long poem?)
Can't wait for mine this afternoon, sending the truest form of solidarity
