That actually looks really good!
I believe that having the ability to craft basic but good-looking UIs is a skill that every (especially frontend) programmer should have to at the very least a slight degree.
It comes in handy especially for personal projects where you're the designer.
I GOT THE BACKEND RUNNING!!!
Now I'm still missing the frontend, but I'll probably do that tomorrow.
Deployment is much more work than I initially anticipated.

I use netcup VPS, they're an Austrian hosting company which is close to where I live which is why I chose them. Here's the URL, I have the base plan:
netcup.com/en/server/vps
I am on my own VPS I rented, that's the thing.
I know it makes things more complicated but on top of wanting to learn, i figured it would also be more flexible...
Hopefully an easier deployment pipeline and a consistent environment.
I'm no expert when it comes to DevOps though so maybe it's not even necessary.
What are your thoughts, do you know more about this?
I can't figure out whether I dockerize everything (i.e. backend, frontend and database) or just the backend. There's many contrasting opinions online and I don't really see the advantage, there's only added complexity, especially for the database.

My gosh, websockets are a pain (especially with the go x/net library π)

Screenshot of Google Analytics that shows 20 active users in the last week, where lately it has been around two per day.
I must admit, SEO wise, averagelambda.dev has been kinda dry.
19.09.2025 10:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh wow I didn't know that (I'm very new to go, I only started using it a couple of days ago).
Seems interesting.
This seems like a slightly better version of what C does. At least Go has some kind of standard, but in C you also have to explicitly check the returned value for errors (sometimes it's - 1, sometimes it's NULL, but it's similar)
18.09.2025 07:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Isn't this kind of "opt in" error handling annoying because you have to keep remembering to handle errors?
Languages like rust on the other hand don't allow you to continue without handling error cases and it also avoids constantly returning these double values.
I'm trying to build a (very simple) backend in Go. It's fine, but what the heck is the error handling π
Once I'm done with the project I'll post about it here, it'll be a web app which everybody can use.

Building software for yourself is (without exaggeration) about ten times easier than building it for the public (i. e. random users).
The security principles and handling of edge cases have to be much more robust, as well as the usability and UI/UX.

A screenshot of my Google Analytics showing that I achieved around 40 impressions through SEO alone in the past couple of weeks, with 4 total clicks, getting me a CTR of around 10%. The average position in the selected timeframe was 4th.
I just realized that my blog articles are actually doing something in terms of SEO.
Here's a couple of stats from Google Analytics if you're interested.
I got almost 40 impressions through SEO alone.

Evil is subjective.

I'm thinking of going on a side-quest and building some sort of online board where everybody can post anything (just text, no pictures). Kind of like a forum but there's no account, it's anonymous and no "algorithm", it's sorted chronologically. Like one big group chat.

A screenshot of my Google analytics showing that I got zero active users on September 11th.
Quick update on the SEO of my file converter website...
It's not looking good to be honest, but it's fine, I've heard that it takes months to see consistent results.
Yesterday we got zero active users π

I wouldn't wish death upon anybody, let alone someone like him who was merely speaking about his political views.
He wasn't violent in any physical way and doesn't deserve what happened to him.
May he rest in peace.
I hope the people rejoicing after his death will have time to reflect.
I just heard about Charlie Kirk's assassination.
Irregardless of political views, I find some of the posts people are making about him quite frankly despicable.
Feeling joy because of someone's death is psychopathic behaviour.
I created another blog post yesterday. #seo requires an immense amount of patience it seems, because I'm not really seeing any results.
Go check out the post, it compares the JPEG image format to PNG:

Having a blog sounds fun to be honest.
Like a personal one where you write about anything that comes to your mind. Kind of like a YouTube channel, but in written form.

Progressive web apps are such a pain.
I have no idea what's going on, most of the stuff I'm writing with AI, it's unintuitive, typescript is poorly supported, the service worker API is still a mystery to me, it's hard to test and to debug.
I wouldn't wish it upon anybody.

A chart showing that my website achieved 42 active users in the last 7 days.
Here's an update on my SEO journey. It's going alright, the main problem is that I don't know how Google counts active users and how often it counts my own visits (even just for testing).
Anyhow, make of these numbers what you will.
