But what about all the waste they told us about? What about all the savings DOGE was going to find? What about the promises to cut council tax?
It's almost as if they were just making shit up to fool people, like they did with Brexit.

An unexpected addition to the #LadybirdYearList today and a new species for me:
20. Rhyzobius litura
in the garden waste bin (finally!).
Also my 15th species for the #NEladybirdspot ๐ #Northumberland
Two moths on a white background. A pale Lunar Underwing and an unknown, slightly larger dark Noctuid.
Thanks. Hadnโt considered that. Iโd wondered about a dark Lunar Underwing, but was appreciably bigger than the pale one I got.
11.10.2025 10:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Small, dark brown Noctuid moth, almost black wings, faintly marked, and dark grey thorax
Dark Sword Grass moth, a long-winged moth with a wide darker bar and darker, sword-shaped streak
The Chestnut, a rich rufous orange-brown moth with reddish markings and dark spot
Angle Shades moth, a beautifully marked fawn, khaki and pale pink moth.
Another late decision to put the trap out - at midnight. But glad I did. 2 more new species for me, Dark Sword Grass & Chestnut, and one of my favourites - Angle Shades (see lots of ๐ in the garden but seem to rarely record adults). Also a confusing dark Noctuid; any ideas?

Ever since I finished Question Time, Reform have massively been on the attack.
Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.
Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.
A Peacock butterfly, perched on my finger, wings closed, showing dark, mottled underwings
A fresh-looking Large White butterfly on a dandelion, wings slightly open, showing a creamy white upper side with black dots and wingtip.
A Small Copper butterfly on ragwort, wings slightly open showing the orange upper side with dark spots
Despite very windy conditions, I spotted 7 species of #butterfly out on my bike in #Northumberland yesterday: Small & Large White, Red Admiral, Peacock, Speckled Wood, Comma and Small Copper. The Peacock was very obliging, posing for a photo on my finger!
06.10.2025 07:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Economist has claimed Britain is trapped in a โdebt doom loop.โ But theyโre wrong. The UK does not face a government debt crisis. What we really face is chronic underinvestment, inequality, and an elite media pushing austerity to protect the wealthy.

No # Covid vaccination unless 75+ years.
And donโt think your loved ones will be safe in hospital this year.
No covid vaccinations for health care staff either.
Our most vulnerable people go to hospital.
What were JCVI thinking?
Oh yes, it was a cost based decisionโฆ

Three dishes of freshly picked tomatoes on my windowsill. A small bowl of ripe red and yellow tomatoes with a couple of green chillies, a large bowl of large green tomatoes turning slightly yellow, and a small tub of unripe cherry tomatoes.
Yay! My flimsy poly-greenhouse somehow survived more-or-less intact through #StormAmy but the outdoor tomatoes and beans have been flattened. A lot of windowsill space needed to ripen this lot!

Labour have gone utterly bonkers
Under the proposals, legal migrants will have to learn English to a high standard, have a clean criminal record and volunteer in their community to be granted permanent settlement status.
Labour looking at Reform's racist policies and saying "we"ll have some of that". These aren't just discriminatory, by making migrants meet higher standards than the average person, they automatically treat migrants as if they are criminals on community service.

Yes. Have a look on YouTube at Moth Trap, youโll see how it works. You basically set up a bright light (or in my case UV light) over a container of some sort. The moths are attracted to the light and settle in the container overnight. Then you open the container, count the moths and let them go.
