Americaβs raging inequality is on display.
The corrupting power of wealth and giant corporations has never been more clear.
Billionaires are running Washington and unleashing a tsunami of big money and legalized bribery.
We are living in a second Gilded Age.

Small, brown Pug moth, with long streaked, speckled wings
The knowledgeable folk in the local moths Facebook group is proposing this as Maple Pug, would be only the 7th for the county. Sadly only the one photo taken, at night on my shorts, before I lost it!
Any thoughts, #TeamMoth? #Northumberland.

Dun-bar moth, a very pale example, a creamy brown moth with a black dot and faint bands on the wings
Shuttle-shaped Dart, female, a dark-winged moth with long black marks on each wing, and an off-white thorax
Early Thorn moth, perched on a leaf with wings closed. Underwings are orange-brown marked with darker lines
A selection of moths (and a spider) on a sheet
Broke the 50 moth barrier and 30 species barriers for last night in my debut year moth trapping.
Highlights: 2 more new species for me, Dun-bar & Shuttle-shaped Dart, a NFY Early Thorn, & 9 Riband Wave. Mostly still around -rather than in- the trap, but canβt complain!

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

A plastic tub of redcurrants
Last leaves from bolted lettuces, a few more kohlrabi, underripe tomatoes & redcurrants from the garden allotment today. Off on holiday in a week, so think my kind neighbour -who waters while weβre away- will see the best of the ripe tomatoes! π€·ββοΈ

Definitely agree on Doctor Who from Ecclestone. We started during Covid lockdown (2x12-year-old girls) worked through the lot (but easy to find in π¬π§). Iβd say *donβt* skip scary/dark episodes as theyβre some of the best. Also Sherlock, & Ghosts (UK) is a comedy great from the HorribleHistories gang

A moth with hairy golden thorax, resting on thistle leaves. Its tented wings are golden brown with two lines of white patches.
Another nice new moth for me this weekend, Gold Swift, which seems quite scarce in #Northumberland. Found fluttering on the edge of some rural woodland⦠and completes my UK Hepialidae list! #TeamMoth

Wormwood Pug, a moth with outstretched narrow pinkish brown wings with dark markings on the leading edge. The abdomen is orange with a dark band
Light Emerald, a large moth with broad wings that are very pale green and marked with 2 paler bands
Another remarkable night for me and #TeamMoth in my #Northumberland garden! Not huge numbers - 38 of 21 - but 4 entirely new moths for me, and 7 NFY.
New were Common Lutestring (my first Drepanid), Wormwood Pug, Light Emerald & Smoky Wainscot.
NFY: highlights were a couple of V-pug & Marbled Beauty

Making Measles Great Again
Before the measles vaccine became widely available in the 1960s, nearly everyone in the United States contracted measles by the timethey were 15.
1. Before the measles vaccine became available in the 60s, millions of children were infected each year, tens of thousands were hospitalized, and hundreds died.
In 2000, the WHO declared that measles had been ERADICATED in the United States
Today measles is back
