America’s raging inequality is on display.

The corrupting power of wealth and giant corporations has never been more clear.

Billionaires are running Washington and unleashing a tsunami of big money and legalized bribery.

We are living in a second Gilded Age.

Thanks. That’s a turn up! I almost didn’t photograph it, as I’m terrible with Pugs, but glad I got a good enough shot 😁

The knowledgeable folk in the local moths Facebook group is proposing this as Maple Pug, would be only the 7th for the county. Sadly only the one photo taken, at night on my shorts, before I lost it!
Any thoughts, #TeamMoth? #Northumberland.

Today marks 16 years since the federal minimum wage was last raised.

Guess how much the wage would be today if it kept up with worker productivity over the years?

β€˜I’m not racist, just concerned’ From Epping to Facebook groups, how fear is being repackaged and pointed downwards and never up

"We’re not racist – we’re just concerned citizens!"

Fire crackers, far-right flyers, hotel protests… but sure. Just concerned.

Broke the 50 moth barrier and 30 species barriers for last night in my debut year moth trapping.
Highlights: 2 more new species for me, Dun-bar & Shuttle-shaped Dart, a NFY Early Thorn, & 9 Riband Wave. Mostly still around -rather than in- the trap, but can’t complain!

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Last leaves from bolted lettuces, a few more kohlrabi, underripe tomatoes & redcurrants from the garden allotment today. Off on holiday in a week, so think my kind neighbour -who waters while we’re away- will see the best of the ripe tomatoes! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

At last, another UK addition to my #LadybirdYearList:

18. Kidney-spot Ladybird

Glad to finally see them turn up again in my #Northumberland garden. They’ve been an ever-present species since 2017 but had not seen one so far this year.

Make sure it’s the UK original. US version is OK, written by the same team and quite funny, but imho the change away from self-deprecating humour takes something away.

Definitely agree on Doctor Who from Ecclestone. We started during Covid lockdown (2x12-year-old girls) worked through the lot (but easy to find in πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§). I’d say *don’t* skip scary/dark episodes as they’re some of the best. Also Sherlock, & Ghosts (UK) is a comedy great from the HorribleHistories gang

Another nice new moth for me this weekend, Gold Swift, which seems quite scarce in #Northumberland. Found fluttering on the edge of some rural woodland… and completes my UK Hepialidae list! #TeamMoth

New were Common Lutestring (my first Drepanid), Wormwood Pug, Light Emerald & Smoky Wainscot.
NFY: highlights were a couple of V-pug & Marbled Beauty

Making Measles Great Again Before the measles vaccine became widely available in the 1960s, nearly everyone in the United States contracted measles by the timethey were 15.

1. Before the measles vaccine became available in the 60s, millions of children were infected each year, tens of thousands were hospitalized, and hundreds died.

In 2000, the WHO declared that measles had been ERADICATED in the United States
