As a DC resident I do feel that the city has been overrun by "violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals" and I would like them to leave the White House and stop destroying the federal government.

I don't remember who or where it was, but I once read someone describe that thing where you're crossing your legs and your pants ride up and expose some bare ankle above your dress sock as "William F. Buckleg," and I've thought of it as that ever since

Some of the crimes I've seen in Washington DC:

β€” Beige sweater with beige chinos
β€” Jacket sleeve tag left on
β€” Tan shoes with navy suits
β€” Giant Windsor knots (triple felony with the metal sports watch paired with dark suit and French cuffs)

YouTube video by EVENING NEWS ARCHIVES ABC NEWS - 1968 Democratic National Convention - Night 3 Part 1 of 2

I find it only gets its proper context when shown with the full ABC convention coverage from that night (this was uploaded just this weekend) - it just becomes "let's take a break from showing cops busting heads to let these two queens screech at each other": youtu.be/MplgeWjhJTs?...

Half page ad in The Washington Post, September 18, 1985, for JCPenney, headlined, "A polished look made easy. Stafford. Gentry. Daks. Botany 500. 25% off," accompanied by drawing of three white men, one in sportcoat and slacks, another in full suit, the third in a trench coat. A ribbon across the bottom part of the sketch screams, "LAST 4 DAYS SALE ENDS SATURDAY!"

I am once again for begging for this type of menswear selection to RETVRN (and for one of you people to invite me somewhere I can wear it):

Full page ad in The Washington Post, September 18, 1985, for the Woodward and Lothrop department store chain advertising Raquet brand suits for lean and athletic builds. A box of text headlined "A GREAT BODY TAKES WORK SO DOES A GREAT SUIT - Raquet introduces pure wool suits for men who stay in shape" is surrounded by a sketch of a man in a locker room wearing a dress shirt and pants sitting next to his tennis bag (with racket prominently sticking out) tying one of his Oxford shoes as the related jacket hangs on a locker door behind him.

Baltimore has seen a dramatic two-year decline in crime -- especially its murder rate -- with police and prosecutors working specifically and effectively to target repeat violent offenders. There's fuck all some National Guardsmen can do other than stand around and watch.

Trump is a fatuous moron.

They want someone to throw a brick, and if they come to New York or Chicago in particular I think they'll get it. And then the problems will really start.

At one point in the early 90s, at the height of the crack trade, murder was so rampant in DC that Channel 5 had a nightly 11 PM show called "City Under Siege" to cover them all. This is nothing like those days. At all. Anybody who says otherwise is an idiot or a liar.

All of the breathless local news pearl clutching about roaming gangs of dirt bike riders, teenage brawlers (remember the couple of months when local TV hyped "the knockout game"??), and window smashers have gotten us to where we are today, a militarized police state in the nation's capital.

tbh my go-to read of this is that trumpism is more or less a "weak dictator" in the hans mommsen sense, but people are underrating the possibility for an executive self-coup in the long run, especially if he finds himself cornered

Just saw someone call the military occupation of DC a distraction, and that’s it, the it’s a distraction people have lost it. We should wait until the bulldozer is running over your house and all chime in with β€œisn’t there something else we should be talking about”

This is 100% going to happen in DC. Zero chance we don't have Kegseth on foot patrol for the cameras by the end of the second week. They'll have him in all the insurgent areas: Dupont, Friendship Heights, Pentagon City Mall, and the whitest bro bars in Adams Morgan.
