I just got back home from Governor-elect Spanberger's party in Richmond. A few things:
1) Emerge Virginia had a banner night. EVA alumnae flipped the Governor's seat and 8 House of Delegates seats Red to Blue, retained all 17 of HoD incumbents and swept all six local races where they ran. 🧵

I think they're both based in the desire to be open and uncomplicated in the desire for affection and trying to put aside the hangups that a shit ton of us transfems get saddled with. As the world has grown more hostile, so has the appeal for joyous surrender into someone else's care

The catgirl is a hacker and activist and has a baseball bat immediately to hand, and if you like her you like her and if you don't you don't. The puppygirl is useless and dumb and needs to be loved and is only really good at taking a beating over and over

The puppygirl lives in a big scary world and can't do anything, and yearns for an owner who will affirm its uselessness, affirm that the world out there is beyond the puppy's control, but the dumb dog forgot that that doesn't matter because the owner will take care of it no matter what

The catgirl is lazy and hedonistic and wants to be taken care of, for sure, but also acts as an agent of chaos and isn't afraid to get her claws out. She's affectionate and fight and bite-y and you might be about to tame her with head scritches but you still have to earn her trust

My personal theory, which concerns things somewhat outside the scope of this article, is that the puppygirl becoming the dominant species (so to speak) over the catgirl is trans folks' erotics reacting to the growing specter of state violence against us

Create negative associations in primary voters. We wouldn't need a lot. People aren't too focused on the 2028 election season yet, and if your negative post about this guy is the first one people see, it'll hurt his chances. (Not hugely, we're still far out) (5/7)

The point of this is to, in a short period of time, show the possibility of damaging someone's capacity to make it past a primary. That's all. Pick the things you think would be unpopular about someone grasping hungrily for power, and center those things. (4/7)

4) (Cont'd) The point of this is to associate him with negatives. Critically, we don't want to narrow it down to trans rights. Maybe you don't like him because he's too thirsty to be president. Maybe it's because he keeps compromising democratic values just for his own power... (3/7)

2) Invite trans people to participate, and invite all your cis allies too. Huge numbers won't be needed.

3) Pick a day of the chosen week to post, so it looks less like a single coordinated day.

4) Post about why you don't think This Guy would be a good presidential candidate in 2028... (2/7)

TBH I think trans people could plausibly flex some electoral muscle if we made something like a Trans Week of Fuck This One Liberal Politician Who's Ditching Trans Rights: It'd work like this:

1) Pick a week maybe a month from now, so we have time to pass it along various community hubs (1/7)

The lines of the flag roughly line up with "man" and "not woman" in blue, "woman" and "not man" in pink, and the first "them" in the white. Other than that, the spacing of the letters is bad and weird because an inexperienced human did it :)
