No, I think popularity of abstractions ("Democrats", "Democratic Leadership") are not the same as the popularity of actual candidates people are voting on.

You keep confusing the leadership's popularity with whether their candidates are winning. The two are different things.

How good the leadership *ks* is certainly meaningful, but the polls on their popularity aren't -- how people feel about democratic leadership won't have much to do with whether or not they are effective.

And, in any case, the candidate quality/fund-raising/effectiveness will matter much more.

You're just wrong. They "did not" vote for Kamala Harris, a particular candidate, which has zero to do with these polls about the "Democrats" (the party).

They barely lost, at that. Either way, irrelevant.

People keep harping on this, but it's not as meaningful as it looks. We don't vote for the Democratic party or its leadership -- which is a big part of the poor polling -- we vote for particular candidates. Lots of Democrats are pissed at the party leadership, but we aren't voting Republican.

It's true that he has none. He's a sociopath.

When you "liberate" a city from its democratically elected mayor, or a state from its governor, that's a civil war.

Are we going to have to have private armies to defend Democrats? Move around with heavily armed bodyguards ready to kill fascists?

This is getting nuts and goes nowhere good.

They won't win the court case (I think). Trump is impatient, and instead of spending years hollowing out the courts, he's moving ahead with shows of force. So while the DOJ is being used as a weapon, it's power is blunted.

But we need to fight back. NO KINGS! SHOW UP! BE HEARD!

We have this one advantage: Numbers. There are far more of us than they have personnel to arrest or prisons to hold.

We need to all show up and use our numbers. Because otherwise, the totalitarian takeover will go on and on.

I predict that the Republican Senate will do nothing. That it’s going to come down to the people, going out and protesting, perhaps sacrificing our bodies or our lives. If Trump can handcuff Senators for asking questions, he can do anything, and all his worst impulses will run wild.

We've seen this before. It doesn't end well. Millions died.

Protest (non-violently!) like your ever getting to vote in a meaningful election again depends on it.

I definitely fear that this may also be on the Project 2025 chopping list. They don't like DEI, they don't like Women's rights. They want women pregnant and in the home while white "Christian" men run the world.
