My local CBS channel seems think we want to see the
knobby knees of women telling us the weather forecast.
Get a dress 6 inches below the knees. I just want tomorrow's weather.
I am blessed to have Victoria Hatch as a colleague in my diocese. I would hate to revisit a Church without women's co-equal status and ministry.

05.12.2025 05:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Decades ago I boasted to a beloved parishioner that I had made it to the 3rd week of Advent without having heard The Little Drummer Boy.
A few days later my apartment door bell rang at 7 a.m.
There was Joe with a boom box, and as I opened the door,
Parrumpapum.
Parish ministry at its best!
YouTube keeps sending me videos of Black women's groups from the late 60s. I loved those singers: They were the most popular voices, made lots of money for their white producers, and I think that they have been under-recognized for their role on the road to equality. (76 yr old man here)

Is it too early in Advent for my annual reminder of why the spelling and punctuation of Hymn 105 (Episcopal Hymnal 1982) are correct?
God rest you [not Ye] merry, gentlemen.
They are not 'merry gentlemen' but gentlemen being rested merry by God.
Beautiful lights on the water. I'll look for a picture of the floating Christmas trees on Alamitos Bay.

I have never ever worried about that.
04.12.2025 05:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Don't you hate it when you've heard a song on YouTube years ago, you remember that it was in Spanish, that it was sung by a choral group, and you can almost hum the first line or two, but it just won't come back?!?!
04.12.2025 04:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wouldn't have that typo at a real keyboard.
04.12.2025 04:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not watching that, but my comment about the 'non-anxious presence' to my my colleagues was:
"Our job is not to be a non-anxious presence, but to APPEAR to be a NON-ANXIOUS ORESENCE."
Why is Trump so upset about a sommelier? A good wine list can aid a fine dining experience.
Sorry, Emily Litella (Gilda Radner), NEVER MIND!
Dear parishioners,
For 40+ yrs I was expected to schedule premarital counseling, committee mtgs, inquirers' classes, &c &c on weekends or evenings for the convenience of 'normal' working people, and yet I was expected to keep 'normal' office hrs at church.
Just saying....

You're making me weep for my late kitty cat.
God bless you.
Maybe it's because I grew up knowing how to say
SEP tua GES ima.
There's a first time for everything. π

(still my favorite)
I began reading the Septuagint in Greek in the early 1970s. When we referred to it in English, the stress was always on the first syllable (SEPTuagint). Now I hear people saying sep-TU-agint.
Where did they get that? Today I pulled out my Webster's and American Heritage dictionaries.
I'm right.
