Trying to help us learn from history correctly. They/Them. Disaster Bi.
Which is Londo gets Vir reassigned to Minbar to keep his war crimes from rubbing of on him or something.
23.02.2026 15:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Shit, I forgot the other subplot in an episode of subplots! That's probably because it was just a way to explain Stephen Furst's absence on the show for another commitment that obviously didn't pan out.
But it is kind of important because without it we would not have Abramo Lincolni.
This makes him cranky and he does another bump to get through the extra med shift and med probe questions. Anyway later Garibaldi apologizes, and Franklin lies about not doing stims once. Welp, that's not good.
And it ends with the Captains still mad about TSA.
7/7
And I do mean crank. Because dude is tired and then goes to the bathroom for a bump and comes out ready to enter the Jack Rabbit Slim's dance contest.
Garibaldi makes him a nice meal and an intervention. It does not go smoothly. Then Franklin tries to answer medical questions for probe.
6/7
Because really what it is is a probe sent to destroy anyone smart enough to pose a threat. So Babylon 5 plays dumb until the probe is out of range, and then the probe gets blown up when they finally send it the scantron of correct answers.
A subplot to that subplot is cranky Franklin...
5/7
Or is it the plot? I don't know. This episode is very Oops all subplot.
A probe shows up and threatens to blow up Babylon 5 unless they get π― on the probe's IQ test.
It takes the whole episode for Sheridan to realize what I already know: IQ tests are bullshit.

He is basically Philippe PΓ©tain and here to toe the Centauri line and tell G'kar to go home. When some Narn fighting happens, G'kar agrees to go home. But the all the Narn refuse to let him leave including our Vichy French ambassador.
So that's the Narn subplot.
3/7
Ta'Lon is his name, and he carries a K'tok, which is a MacGuffin for the overused warrior race trope of hand cutting. But I digress, he is really happy to see John Sheridan again after their time with the anal probe aliens.
As for Na'Far (who my phone wants to call Nascar)...

Babylon 5: S3E3. "A Day in the Strife." CW: drug addiction.
All the Captains hate the new TSA search protocols, including one that John Sheridan plays chicken with (no bullets, Han).
The new Narn ambassador arrives with a bodyguard played by Marshall Teague. I love that guy.

Who are you? What do you want? Did Dr. Franklin get that Jack Rabbit Slim dancing trophy?
23.02.2026 14:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not sure how Towser survived as long as he did, as most of the dogs were cooked at this point. But that's the last dog in the party: feeding the Breens.
It looks like even with some small rations and less mouths to feed, things are still very grim on the mountain.

"Froze hard last night. To day fine & thawey. Has the appearance of spring. All but the deep snow. Wind S.S.E. Shot Towser [a dog] today & dressed his flesh. Mrs Graves came here this morning to borrow meatβdog or ox. They think I have meat to spare; but I know to the Contrary...."

βThe sunshine, which it would seem would have been welcome, only added to our misery. The dazzling reflection of the snow was very trying in the eyes, while its heat melted our frozen clothing, making them cling to our bodies.β
Meanwhile back at the lake...

But when they get to the cache, it is apparent some animal has made due with the food left in the tree.
The next cache was 20 miles away, and about four days of walking without food.
To say they were dispirited is an understatement.
Virginia Reed would recall the day...

February 23, 1847. The First Relief all awaken cold and stiff. Ned Coffeemeyer is puzzled by his shoelaces: the rawhide has been chewed off, presumably by one of the children.
They make a difficult climb over the pass. There's a food cache on the other side: a great motivation.

TLDR Enterprise: S4E18. "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part 1."
Oh ho ho we have midriff, people. Midriff!
And despite being the Terran Empire universe, Archer is still not as unhinged as he was in the Xindi season.
We get Tholians and the USS Defiant!!! See you next week!
Hiram Miller (remember him from back on the main trail?), Nicholas Clark (of age with the Charleses but much less shitty), Matthew Dofar and Joseph Gendreau.
Not with them is the still late Woodsworth. Johnson promises to send him with the rations when he finally arrives.

As we know, she has already died.
Mountain man John Turner also comes with. Seven other men come with, including two real pieces of shit: both named Charles. We will get to their shittiness eventually.
Also there are Patrick Dunn, Britton Greenwood...

"Well, mother, if you never see me again, do the best you can."
It will turn out that Glover will not have to keep his promise...
Leaving Johnson's Ranch is James Reed and another rescue party.
This party includes Will McCutchen, hoping to rescue his daughter.

That is until Aquilla Glover, who walked them back, offered the Breens more of their reserved food. It works.
Aquilla has promised Margret Reed on his honor that he would eventually return for her children.
Patty tells her mother shortly before they part...
6/9
Unfortunately it became apparent pretty quickly that most of the children were struggling with the depth of snow. The party does not get far, and soon Patty and Thomas are sent back to the Breens as noted by Patrick.
What Patrick didn't note is that he refused their entry...

As Lewis Keseberg lies on the ground apparently unable to do anything, and having already lost her infant son, Philippine does not want to leave her toddler to die. They will not wait for another relief.
Margret also refused to leave any of her children.

... Mary & William Murphy, Naomi Pike, Philippine & Ada Keseberg, Doris Wolfinger, John Denton, Noah James, and Eliza Williams.
The party includes those thought strong enough to make the trek, although Philippine refused to leave her toddler daughter behind...

The First Relief leaves camp leaves with the following refugees: Elitha & Leanna Donner , George Donner, Jr., William Hook, Margret, Virginia, James Jr., Patty, & Thomas Reed, Edward & Simon Breen, William, Eleanor, & Lovina Graves,...

February 22, 1847: "The Californians started this morning, 24 [23] in number, some in a very weak state. Fine morning. Wind S.W. for the 3 last days. Mrs Keysburg started & left Keysburg here[; he was] unable to go... Paddy Reid & Tho[mas]s. came back." - Patrick Breen.

February 21, 1847.
"Thawey, warm day."
She was left in the care of her grandmother, Mrs Murphy. But Murphy is ailing and stopped producing milk.
Murphy tried giving the girl ox hide gruel. It did nothing for her.
She is buried in the snow.
Preparations to for the First Relief continue.

February 20, 1847. Help comes too late for the infant Catherine Pike.
No amount of flour or dry meat could nourish the unweaned infant. Her father had been accidentally shot by her uncle. Her mother recovers at Johnson's Ranch with the other members of the Forlorn Hope.
1/2
This made the Breens happy, as they would now have the cabin to themselves (Patrick decided all but Edward and Simon would stay until the next relief).
Those going would leave on the 22nd. For now they try and regain some strength. The crossing is not easy for the healthiest.
6/6
A similar selection process would take place at the Lake Camp. It was considered wise for only the strongest to attempt the crossing, but everyone would need a few days of real food before doing so.
Margret Reed though was determined to bring her whole family: even the youngest.
