Talent/Giftedness

is really just:

Being an absolute freak that enjoys the process of something so much, that even failing in it is enjoyable.

You will not feel this for every type of media you like to consume. But you will feel it for a few. Pursue those.

Think I’m gonna go with the headcanon that she was not attacked and left for dead by the “French Jack the Ripper” but started embellishing her story that way when retelling it years later.

(I’ll go with this for now, unless/until we get legible text and there’s a reason to have it be him)

Which I guess confirms (if I’m right) her turning happened in 1889.

With this in mind I think the start of the previous line is “The Exposition Universelle of 1889”

Particularly in regards to the main areas of her story that are set in stone for me:

-the Paris Commune (now she’d be 14 instead of 4/5)

-ballet

-prostitution

I like that, though whether I decide to incorporate it into my fic series is probably not likely, as the timeline with her born in 1866 is important, but it’s fun info to have and an excuse to do more research on this specific span of years (1857-1889).

The Eiffel Tower finished construction in 1889, which I assume puts her turning between 1889-91.

My headcanon in regards to her age is that she’s only one year older than Santiago, who I have born in 1867, and her age at the time being 32. With 1889 in mind, she’s now ten years older.

Joseph Vacher was a real serial killer (who also I don’t think was ever in Paris, not that I could find) but what’s really interesting is how this gives a timeline for her turning.

“Isabelle Eglee used to work the red light district of Pigalle…but she grew tired of the world’s oldest profession.”

I deciphered that line a while ago and am still very confident in its accuracy, and I think I’ve just found another one I am fairly confident is right.

I’ve incorporated a few historical figures into her fic series backstory, but for her “canon” I’m going to focus on one, Marie van Goethem, as they would have been contemporaries.
