41 for me, and it has made a big difference to me also to know that information over the last decade and a half. A lot of things fall into place and make way more sense.

BTW, thanks for the follow.

Ontario court strikes down Ford government's plan to remove Toronto bike lanes | CBC News An Ontario court has deemed the province's plan to remove three major Toronto bike lanes unconstitutional.

WOW! Big news in the Toronto bike lanes legal challenge story. Hopefully, this will be the end of it, but I expect the Province will appeal, wasting yet more of our money.

With Ford’s government in one corner and city officials in another, will Toronto’s green homebuilding measures survive? Ontario says its new housing law is intended to prevent environmental standards from being imposed on developers. Toronto says the law doesn’t actually do that.

The Ford government's attempts to kill Toronto's green standard, cheered on by RESCON, are not a good look and won't age well. It should be more than evident by now that we can't solve the housing crisis while ignoring the climate crisis. www.thestar.com/news/gta/wit...

Tell Stantec to do the right thing and tear up their ill-advised contract with Doug Ford's government to remove bike lanes in Toronto. If you hold Stantec stock, be sure to mention that.

That they won't work because many people need to live their lives across a much broader geography such as a city or city-region for economic or other reasons? To be clear, I'm not arguing that, I'm just saying there's a world of difference between such arguments and tin foil hat territory.

Edward Keenan: What this piece of Toronto history tells us about Doug Ford’s battle with bike lanes The Bloor Street Viaduct shows what happens when you build for the city that is to come, rather than trying to turn the clock back.

"...it’s hard to justify the decision to build a bridge by looking at the number of people swimming across a river." (@thekeenanwire.bsky.social quoting @brenttoderian.bsky.social)

Good planning requires envisioning a future that departs from our present. Otherwise you're reacting, not planning.

How the 15-minute city idea became a misinformation-fuelled fight that’s rattling GTA councils The idea of making cities walkable and livable has helped fuel a conspiracy theory that is throwing local meetings into chaos β€” and is already changing the way councils work.

One can legitimately disagree with the concept of 15 minute cities, but when baseless accusations are hurled in public forums by those leaning deep into bonkers conspiracy theories, don't be surprised if urban planners push back.

Ford government looking to build three new power plants to meet electricity demands. Here’s where they’d be located Ford’s government is preparing to release a new provincial energy plan early next year.

Setting aside my strong feelings about nuclear, like @mikeschreiner.bsky.social I can't help thinking that renewables should be a much bigger part of Ontario's energy future.

Lots to digest here. While we've been pulling a lot of land use policy levers in Ontario to try to spur housing construction, there's more we could do and some of that will require addressing the costs of development, including development charges.

This is one of the better pieces I've seen lately on development charges in Ontario. They do have their place but should be used to help shape the growth of our communities, not penalize young homebuyers while rewarding longtime residents with artificially low property taxes.

Modern day roads in the Yonge and Eglinton area with the original township lots superimposed.

In many cases the longer through roads created through plans of subdivisions ran parallel to the township lots in the original 18th century surveys. You can really see this in the road pattern centred around Yonge and Eglinton where there is a 90 degree twist in the lot fabric on the west side.
