RELEASE: Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus Respond to National Democrats Compromising on Trans Rights
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – In response to comments made by prominent Democrats arguing Democrats need to compromise on issues impacting trans Americans, like sports participation, the Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus issued the following statement:
“During a time when the Trump administration is using the full force of the federal government to dehumanize and eradicate trans Americans, we need our leadership to remember that the fight for equal rights for all has always been tied to trans rights. None of us would enjoy living out and proud without the hard work and sacrifices by trans women of color leading the Stonewall movement.
“We don’t allow individual states, counties, or communities to decide whether or not they accept our rights to get married, raise children, or recognize our basic human rights. All children deserve to play, and the Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus will always stand up for Minnesotans and fight against attempts to restrict personal liberties.
“Our commitment to protecting sports participation and educational opportunities for all Minnesotans is unwavering, and we want all members of our community to know that you are welcome in Minnesota.”

It seems like businesses have all upped their prices but the person writing the coupons is still living in 1942. Save 50 cents on my next order? 50 cents? Are you serious?

This is a fact. My parents bought their house in greater Boston for $211,000 in 1992. Houses in their neighborhood now are routinely selling for $1m-$1.3m now (houses that, in comparison, would be more in the $400,000-$550,000 range in the Twin Cities).

I once read that Die Hard is more of Hanukkah movie about the people rising up against a would-be overlord and fighting to take back their building—and it takes place in December. Die Hard is a Hanukkah film!

At their funeral, Hortmans remembered for humility, humanity in a harsh political world
Hundreds of mourners, including former President Joe Biden, honored Melissa and Mark Hortman Saturday at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. Gov. Tim Walz said Melissa Hortman would be remembered...
What a beautiful service honoring the memory and legacy of two remarkable people who were taken from us far too soon.
This moment is a real reckoning. We again must ask ourselves as a country who we want to be. I choose joy, hope, and partnership. That’s the future we need.

A beautiful service that reminded us what we are fighting for and why it matters. This can’t keep being the way forward. It just can’t. 😔

Protest signs held high at a rally today. The central one is hand-letterd, saying "Melissa Hortman Loved Democracy, and So Do I"
This is heartbreaking.
