I feel like this type of weed guy has always been around. Talking about how much better weed is than everything else. "It's only illegal because hemp was a threat to Hearst's paper company!"

But it wasn't like they were sitting at a table in public and someone filmed them and put them on the internet. This was something tens of thousands of people saw in person and would have been talked about regardless. And it was somewhere that you KNOW people are going to be recording.

This wasn't somebody making a social video though, they were literally on the Jumbotron! Chris Martin commented on it! This is not at all the same thing as a person sitting quietly on a plane.

I dunno, the dynamics in the two chambers has reversed since then. It failed in the senate that time because the Senate had a very slim majority, while the house had a larger one. Now that's been flipped. With how much worse the senate bill is on Medicaid it could be tough to pass in the House.

Not really, the first movie basically only took the premise from the book. This seems to be following the book at least a little more closely.
