Since I’m on leave from my day-job, the last few days I’ve gone full goblin mode and been wearing this—what now feels like my ‘writing dress’—to sit for about 9 hours a day and do final tweaks to this MS before going on sub. 🥴

The Polari Prize issued a statement saying it believes its longlistees can hold “different positions on substantive issues.” This is like long listing a racist with authors of color then telling everyone it’s a mere “different position on a substantive issue”. Trans people are a fact. Not an “issue”

This was not a matter of public interest, if they weren’t actively going to protect their staff, then they could have in the very least kept their fucking mouths shut.

GDPR is incredibly powerful.
I’d also throw in EHRC for gender recognition and frankly that an employer holding any discussion around their staff members genitals at all let alone publicly falls within realms of harassment, both sexual and otherwise.

The email read: "Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your experience. We deeply regret the distress your daughter felt during her visit to our store. We understand how important this milestone is for her, and we are truly sorry that it did not go as you had hoped." However, the mother was not satisfied with M&S's response to this issue, claiming that the company had acknowledged that the "colleague is not female" but that it was "not sufficient to offer just my daughter the protection of not being approached by him."

Disclosing someone’s personal info without their explicit consent is illegal, doing so when it risks harm? Worse.

The response implies, the reception confirms successful implication.

Sue the fuck out of them.

And NO amount of hand wringing or “well actually I’m against her views on trans people but I want to be in HP” helps…in fact it makes it WORSE. It tells you they have a bit understanding of how bad they know what they’re doing is, but are choosing to do it anyway, so fuck those people in particular.

These celebrities are using their social status and privilege to run PR and make a vile anti-human rights campaign more palatable by the masses who don’t have a firm knowledge base of the subject. They’re using their social currency to shape the narrative that hating trans people is ok. Remember it.

At this stage of media saturation, ignorance is no longer an excuse for the celebrities signing up to fund more attacks on trans people by JKR. They should be treated as what they are: figureheads actively promoting the oppression one of the most vulnerable and marginalised groups in society…

You can't call yourself "a prize for LGBTQ+ literature" and longlist a self-proclaimed terf. Anyone can give any prize to anyone they like, of course. But don't pretend you're a prize for my community when you're platforming someone who's actively fighting against it.

It’s not TOTALLY new tbf. Like if the air is too still I have always felt sick and unsettled and sometimes like I’m going to faint. Have literally had to leave restaurants for this reason multiple times because ‘the air’s too thick’

I’m not sure if this is anxiety or related to autonomic dysfunction which I also have (very common with autism) which until now has mostly made only really me very fainty and basically always thirsty.

I travel with a portable fan that I sit holding near my face, I have a fan in each room in the house and have it pointed at me as I eat, sleep…

Ever since I was hospitalised a couple of months back with breathing issues and a fever, I’ve literally had to have a fan blowing in my face almost all of the time.

I cannot stand the air being still, I feel like it’s smothering me and it makes me really stressed and the fan on my face calms me 😓
