From a Reddit subgroup an image with a caption. The caption reads “I was today years old when I found out postboxes do this deep into the ground”. The image contains three postboxes but the part that is normal underground is exposed. This exposed area reveals the tube of the post box extends down further by about a third. The extended tube has long lozenges shaped holes that rub horizontally around the the base (presumably to make the overall thing lighter while allowing it to be concreted in to the ground)
