What makes fear stick? I've always loved horror games.

Fair. Perhaps I focused too much on the consumption element. I agree with that.

The example is directly calling out broad consumption, so I think it is.

I don't think that one's experience should be colored by whether they like something underground, or liked it before it was cool. But I do get it.

But does a broader audience inherently diminish a piece? For instance, is Balatro now less palatable now that is has gained accolades and audience?
