absolutely, we need a nuclear reactor occupying about 30 arc minutes of the sky from which we can capture power about 50% of the time
this would be a GAME CHANGER

i will later ask him why the product never improved :D
04.08.2025 21:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i also work now with a former product manager of doozer! (though we did not overlap, he was many years after me)
04.08.2025 21:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0but excel. to edit an existing cell without wiping it, you have to press f2 (or use the mouse). who the heck has an f2 key anymore or even knows one exists.
google sheets at least gets the fundamental navigation UI reasonably correct.
fortunately, larry/sergey say lots of dumb things that never get implemented. doozer was moved to zurich during the whole social thing, and I'm guessing having 100% turnover slowed things down in a way that was hard to recover.
04.08.2025 21:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0also in like 2008, google calendar presented their vision to larry/sergey, who responded they should just fire the whole calendar team and have them work on sharing. (google+ happened a bit later)
04.08.2025 21:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Can't you share your personal account to your work account?
04.08.2025 21:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0ideally such an app would allow you to play an actual instrument (which is much more fun and rewarding than an app!) and it would hear the notes you are playing and tell you about it, and suggest new chords to play and why
04.08.2025 21:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0initial versions of products can be super innovative, but then once it becomes mature, metrics take over
04.08.2025 21:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0go to calendar.google.com on your personal account, find your calendar on the left nav, click the kebab menu (first image), then "Settings and sharing", then under "Shared with", enable "Make changes to events"
04.08.2025 21:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0that said, I have given my work gsuite account write access to my home calendar, and it works, but I also don't like the idea of giving my employer access to modify my home calendar.
web browsers kind of force a single-account model. phones do not, because they are thick clients.
sorry, 2009

04.08.2025 21:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i was an early software engineer on gsuite, it is fascinating to read this
(also, in my new job, I've been vibe-coding Excel, the honest to goodness desktop app)
I wonder if that has anything to do with why Sites doesn't get a lot of investment

No thumbs REALLY helps with pain. It turns laptop keyboards into ergonomic keyboards (natural wrist position). Which I can't use because I alternate the middle columns.
"How do you hit spacebar?" Index fingers obviously.

funny story, when I was in like 3rd grade, instead of playing at the playground like the cool kids, i calculated the number of seconds in a year, using 365.25 since I didn't know about the century rule
now I sit next the the playground with my kids using my pocket computer

Do we want AI to do these things? No.
Is it going to do these things some day? Probably.
I'm not optimistic but I realize there is no point in dooming, the only thing you can do is keep an eye on it and figure how to adapt...
