While I agree with this take, we must remember that these sentiments (e.g. anti-vax) are motivated. Underlying them is a kernel of truth. A warranted distrust of an exploitative and dysfunctional healthcare system.
It's not just people who have it easy, its also desperation and helplessness.

Don't know what conference it was for but a friend told me the same yesterday. His review confidently cited papers that didn't exist.
