On a dark background, the phrase "I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive" is repeated, followed by a purple musical note
symbol, suggesting a song or musical expression of being alive. The text is light gray, creating contrast against the
dark background.
If you are going to have a health check, you might as well have some fun with it.

It's crazy how easy it is to get structured logs and traces working in your .NET app locally using OpenTelemetry and Seq or the Aspire Dashboard. If metrics are important to you probably use the Aspire Dashboard.

My oldest son turned 9 last month. The reality of how quickly that time has gone is what is motivating me so much to get uber serious and focused on my ability to save and invest. How different can I make our life look in the next 9?

I think Iโve said this before, but itโs wild how many people have such strong opinions about others and how they should live their life.
Itโs all the more reason to make sure I offer equally strong opinions and examples to my sons.

The software engineering field seems to attract a particularly large number of people who probably be better off as professors or university lecturers.
Donโt get me wrong I love a good theoretical discussion as much as the next guy, but at some point you gotta put all the conjecture away.

Figmaโs IPO shows you how schizophrenic the market is. In one breath we have people saying the rise of AI makes GUIs obsolete and then another doubling the price of a company explicitly aimed at helping people build GUIs.

Itโs odd that so many of the things in the US that sort of qualify you for adulthood involve some level of consumption and on average a lot of leverage.
Buying a car
Buying a home
Getting married
Taking vacations
Etc.
I think we need some different ceremonies around growing up.

Median homebuyer age is 56 years old.
Median mortgage rate is 6.75%.
Median house price is $410,800.
Median household income is $80,610.
I think you can confidently say that home ownership is no longer a part of the American dream.

I donโt really care whether AI ever replaces the need for code written by humans. Iโll be doing it regardless. There is just something really enjoyable about crafting a solution. Itโs the act of creating and โsculptingโ something into existence.

@vscode.dev it would be awesome if in the extensions pane there was a category of extensions like "Unused in last 30 days" or something like that.
Not sure if that is possible but thinking it be nice to have an easy way to purge extensions that aren't adding value in my day-to-day workflow.

I think one of the fatal flaws of the "big" tech industry is that they've really created quite an insular bubble for themselves.
Some of the claims that are being made about the timeline on which generative AI will impact society are just flat out wild.

Obsidian is so good, but in the vast majority of cases you are going to want some ability to sync your data across devices.
The solution I've found affordable has been using the self-hosted live sync plugin combined with an instance of CouchDB running on Fly.io.

Youth sports is so out of control and out of touch.
My sonโs football coach said he needed a parent to film the games so that the coaches can watch the film and see what they need to work on.
My son is 9 what they need to work on is running, blocking, tackling, throwing, and catching. The basics.

Going back and forth on scheduling has got to have wasted so much of humanityโs collective time.
