We achieved 396 marks, a massive increase of 12 over last year and just 4 behind the overall winners Carrick-on-Shannon.

It’s a great achievement for our little community. Let’s work together to make one massive effort to win the overall award next year.

TIDY TOWNS AWARDS
What a day for Geashill in Croke Park - with Tidy Towns winning the County Award and a Gold Medal, while Raheen GAA Bravehearts descended from the sky.
We achieved 396 marks, a massive increase of 12 over last year and just 4 behind the overall winners Carrick-on-Shannon.

There is a moment at this time of year when the word ‘apricity’ really comes into view. For those who don’t know it, it was recorded only once, in 1623, before slipping out of view. Apricity is the warmth of the sun on a chilly day.

Some news for all those Geocachers out there - and for those who are thinking of taking up the actvity.
There are now 3 geocaches stashed away somewhere in Geashill for you to find, 2 hidden by Geashill Tidy Towns.

Fast food serving tray cleaned out and filled with water with three sugar cubes dissolved in it. There’s a pretty stone - white line breaking up the darker stone - for the bees and butterflies to stand on.

Sugar water for my #bee & #butterfly friends. With a standing bar, obviously. 🦋

In all, about 19 species of bird were heard.
A highlight was a lone Cuckoo with its timeless 2 note song drifting across from Ballydownan.
