We analysed over 10,000 fruit-feeding butterflies in Uganda and found that as forests mature, body size diversity increases, distributions become more balanced, and intraspecific variation matters.

以前に、菌根共生を想定した数理モデルを作りました。寄生的な（炭素供給に比べて栄養をあまりくれない）菌根菌が実生の時に付いたとしても、成長した後で相利になれば、寄生的な共生者がいた時の方が個体数が増えるというお話。送粉者にも当てはまりそう。

植食者が植物を食べ尽くさず、世界は緑にあふれているのはなぜか。捕食者の役割を強調する緑の世界仮説などあるけど、mutualistic herbivore hypothesisなんてのを考えています。

チョウの幼虫など一部の植食者は植物の天敵って考えられているけど、実は植物が送粉者を育てていると考えると、実質的な相利共生ではないかと思うのよね。ハチの幼虫は送粉に寄与しないけど、成虫に給餌されているので実質同じ。だから何ってことはないんだけど、そう思うと見方も変わる。
