IIRC Dreams solved it by packing volumes with spheres, based on a technique published by NASA(?). You could actually see a brief visualization of it if you tweaked an object's physics accuracy.

The morphs in Keeper use distance fields as an (implicit) surface representation, which makes it possible to control the distance at which the surface should lie. In other words, itโ€™s easy to deflate or inflate objects, and meshes become easily โ€˜moldableโ€™.

This is a pretty big hobby milestone for me-- a real corridor & chamber solution that works with PCG partitions. Now I can experiment with more interesting generators for the corridors and chambers themselves, and interior/exterior features.

A lot of open worlds are just excessive set dressing. You donโ€™t often see open worlds that are built with the intent to support future work. I think BL4โ€™s world is going to keep giving for a long time to come.

Rolled credits on #Borderlands4 last night. Gearbox built a super impressive, layered open world and filled it with lots of fun things to see and do. Itโ€™s a rock solid platform on which they can build DLC and maybe even new features.
