Digger (2003–2011) by Ursula Vernon Tales of small furry things taking on gods – and often winning – abound in Vernon's early works, and Digger is true to form. While it explores a strand of fantasy less rooted in violent spectacle than Eat God's usual fare, its world of talking statues, vampiric gourds and oracular slugs has much to offer, and many of its cast – including the titular protagonist – make a good models for the Folk.
