Gabe Vilardi earning his big payday is one of the feel good stories in hockey. He dealt with constant, serious back issues at the end of his Junior career and as he tried to find his way to the NHL. I can only imagine the hard work and blind faith it took to earn his way to this point. #NHLJets

Dostal at 5 x $6.5m could be one of those contracts that ages extremely well. He's only 25, a legit starting goaltender & bailed out the Ducks repeatedly as he played behind a patchwork defense. AAV puts him in the Gibson, Markstrom, Binnington tier of compensation (all 32-35 yrs old) #FlyTogether

This is really good. It also touches on a mindset in the CHL that won't go away until they have no choice but to change.

The margin for error is always slim for any team that is a double digit underdog and the first half (thus far) is showing why… everything seems so much more difficult for Notre Dame; conversely, Ohio State feels like they’re always a step away from a long gain.

Tough way to live for 60 minutes.

Two of the bigger keys to this game were #NotreDame trying to control the clock and if they’d match up man-to-man against the #Buckeyes receivers.

The 1st quarter has to be a considered a victory for Notre Dame on both accounts. But Ohio State has shown that can change in a hurry.

Because of Michigan, the question about Ohio State has been “are they tough enough?”

In a related note: Notre Dame’s first drive was 18 plays, 9:45 off the clock, and 7 points on the scoreboard.

From a physical and mental standpoint, that was a perfect start for the #Irish #CFB

Two things can be true:

1. There were a couple of calls that were, ahem, “iffy.”

2. It’s tough for a team to win a close game when they miss a field goal, have a field goal blocked, miss an extra point, and give up 8 sacks.

That is the worst start to a game by a good team in a long time. It didn’t look like the Golden Knights ever left the hotel. They signed up for 60 and somehow it wouldn’t be surprising if they flipped the script… but still, that was ugly
