What does MLS have to deal with that no European league outside of Ireland has to deal with? Competition for money from other sports that are significantly bigger than MLS.

Congrats to MLS for their pending financial disaster starting in 2027. I guess they want people to forget about the league (the AppleTV deal already started that).

The timing is interesting, as Delta plans to start its Seattle-Rome flights in May. SEA-FCO becomes another Alaska/Delta international route battle.

And at some point, MLS is finally going to admit that the AppleTV deal has had a negative impact on the league, right?

At some point people have to realize that MLS' main competition isn't other soccer leagues around the world. It's all the other major North American sports leagues. The major leagues in other countries don't have the competition for sports money like MLS has in North America.

But, hey, the couch potatoes, europhiles & some warm weather fans finally get MLS onto their preferred schedule, right? Never mind that MLS will get lost behind the NFL, NBA, NHL, college football & college basketball. They don't care.

One of the biggest reasons MLS has been able to grow like it has is *because* of the spring-fall schedule. It gave a strong alternative to MLB (and surpassed it in some cities at times). Flipping the schedule will hurt the league financially more than they know.

They didn't care then, they don't care now, and many see all those known traits as positives.

The league probably felt pressure to get everything done quickly. The original six didn't get names/logos for over a year, including the entire first season. Maybe it gets a bit more polished over the next year before that goes on a jersey. Can hope.
