22.02.2026 23:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'd kill for some Oden right now.
22.02.2026 08:04 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0lmao that is very true but like I wish I could tell you about some of the stuff I know, they are very hilarious but very NDA :')
21.02.2026 19:03 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0RIP :') thanks for taking the time to answer.
21.02.2026 12:57 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0AMD? Does the Raedon tool not help? Apologies for the basic suggestions.
21.02.2026 12:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0UE5 games these days come out and tend to be not optimized and people complain about it. Granted it's definitely a time/skill issue that this happens but like at a specific point this smells like "all my exes are crazy" type deal.
21.02.2026 12:37 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Nsight should be able to give you that info no?
21.02.2026 12:32 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0lmao I will come back to you once I'm done with all the optimizations
21.02.2026 08:43 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0static init is mainly just registering types, it's the reflection system. We are fixing it. Unfortunately I cannot cache it to file as it registers methods on the classes to use for object creation. Hopefully there are a few more easy wins I can get next week.
21.02.2026 08:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That should have said "some other tweaks it's 38 secs".
21.02.2026 01:27 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Under release this is under 10sec which to me is still high
21.02.2026 01:26 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0So just coming back to this as I was given the task to investigate it. This slow down was due to the usage of a flat_map which re-sorted a vector on every insertion.
The initial time (under debug config) took 2:07 mins, after removing the sort , it came down to 50~sec, with some other it's 38~sec
Thanks! I'm definitely keeping this in mind.
20.02.2026 17:44 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Ah yes I should have specified I meant the spark codec. I will keep this in mind, we may have a use case.
20.02.2026 07:05 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I'm hoping it's just the studio that is shutting down and the talent is redistributed. Wasting such a level of skill is just bad.
19.02.2026 21:06 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Does this work on switch 2?
19.02.2026 18:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Thank you! You will see the magic in a few years as is the case with game projects :)
19.02.2026 18:01 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0A slide from a small talk I have to a few students at Leeds Uni. It was mainly about the tools we use day to day. Not shown on the slide but mentioned are Live++ and Superluminal. The university uses Linux unfortunately so windows gets to be mentioned.
19.02.2026 17:58 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Breathing has been patented
19.02.2026 17:55 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It's a bit weird indeed. Especially what you can and cannot call "Switch 2 Edition".
19.02.2026 17:43 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Not always the case, the RDR for SW2 I worked on was given away for free.
19.02.2026 17:36 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0lmao it does.
19.02.2026 17:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Cautiously optimistic as they say. From our perspective as a co-dev studio it looks positive for our business. Which indicates health. We are hiring for a bunch of really cool projects which is also very positive. Hopefully it's good.
19.02.2026 17:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Ah very familiar problem :D
19.02.2026 08:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Interesting, the "convince" leads me to believe that it's not the standard to get every piece of code reviewed before it gets checked in, is this not the case?
19.02.2026 07:51 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I had some very positive news from our higher ups today, mostly in terms of the health of the games industry and quite honestly it was very good news. So at least a positive.
19.02.2026 00:31 — 👍 13 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Oh yeah I'm 100% there with you, the onus is on your producer to come ask you how long something takes and plan around that. If they fuck up the timing then that is on them
18.02.2026 22:23 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0On the other hand, if you are working for a company it's a different beast, don't burn yourself out if you aren't going to be well compensated for that work. Hell even if you are compensated for it, don't do it.
18.02.2026 22:11 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I'm very torn in this, that post is shitting on what is ostensibly someone's passion and their dedication, it's nobody's place to tell a creator how they go about their craft. Everyone has their path to find that balance, it's okay to share your own experience but tearing people down is not nice.
