Snarky blogpost aside.

The real problem is the clear fundamental difference between ecosystems of Windows & Linux development.

I get the โ€œperf at all costsโ€ but I really value that any .exe released is going to maintain backwards compatibility for a significant amount of time. (No app patches req)

Iโ€™m suspicious of professionals / techfluencers praising LLMs.

I do worry about the learned helplessness feedback loop for students / folk learning new things.

LLMs make you feel like you are learning but you are actually just outsourcing your thought process to a for profit company.

I donโ€™t use LLM for any home work or any code, but I do investigate itโ€™s utility every 6-12 months

- Itโ€™s detrimental to code quality / architecture.

- it seriously stifles the process of learning & making connections between ideas.

- Fine as a first pass for reviews (catch stupid logic bugs)

1 - make good stuff people want

2 - fire everyone who knows what they're doing even if the doors fly off your airplanes and make up some wild shit about how autocorrect is going to make it all better eventually

Honestly the bare minimum that discord could do to solve this is to allow for a forum mode/section that is able to be indexed & just be explicit that the post is public.

Iโ€™m sure this will only be a net negative.

But I do often think about how if things become significantly worse for folk they will just leave to the next best competitor, Iโ€™ve changed my โ€œgamesโ€ communication platform 3 times over the last 15 years, folk will just do it again when the time comes.

Highly recommend the edge chronicles, starting from the twig series. The age rating is a bit older 9-14 but the illustrations are fantastic.

Reflection:

Iโ€™ve been slow & steady in regards engine development this year.

Iโ€™ve been porting of my engine to C and kicked off a significant rewrite of my renderer & core, along with the removal of many external libs.

Iโ€™ve loved the process of removing external libs & implementing them myself.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.
